We've put up a sound file at Lost Folk Tapes of another acetate from the collection of Rob Cochrane of the Culture Catch blog. This one is probably from the early seventies, and features some great songs from a singer who in places sounds uncannily like a slightly posher Shelagh McDonald. There are eight tracks on the acetate - Mary, Never Let the Sun Go Down in Your Anger, Alaister, Do You Want Me Here, Nobody's Gonna Steal My Car (our new favourite song title!), Another Love, Postcard and So You Think You Have a Moment. There are no other clues, except that it's a Emidisc recording blank. The songs are very much in that Joni Mitchell influenced style so beloved of female singer songwriters of the era, but none the worse for it. They were clearly recorded as demos, rather than for commercial release, but Rob's extensive ferreting around the world of rare records suggests that no commercial release ever came to from them.

If you think you might be able to identify the singer, please let us know - even wild guesses will help. If you were that singer, even better! Whoever comes up with the right name first gets a special prize...
