Subject: 'The Roses Of Picardy' - guitar solo From: Will Fly Date: 20 Jun 11 - 07:57 AM I'm off to France for a week on Wednesday and thought I'd do something with a vaguely French theme on my new parlour guitar. "The Roses Of Picardy" was written in 1916 by Frederick Weatherly (words) and Haydn Wood (music). Weatherly was a serving officer on the Western Front. For me, it's a very bitter-sweet song, as it's almost impossible to think of the year 1916 without also thinking of the Somme... Anyway, here 'tis as a little instrumental: The Roses Of Picardy |

Ian lives a couple of miles away from me in Sussex. Engelmann face - cocobolo back and sides, mahogany neck with maple stripe, snakewood tuners and old Brazilian rosewood bridge. |
