Subject: RE: Tech: Facebook - Newsfeed/recent news From: nickp Date: 24 Jun 11 - 04:48 AM I guess it's one of those devils you have to live with if you want to use it. The latest 'observation' is that the 'recent' stuff seems to be updating in real time down the right hand side of the screen and can't be turned off. I'm sure that FB thinks it is an improvement... Ho hum. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Facebook - Newsfeed/recent news From: GUEST,Noreen at work Date: 23 Jun 11 - 04:47 AM The problem with Facebook is that profits are being regarded as more important than users. Well, if you were paying for it, you would have grounds to complain. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Facebook - Newsfeed/recent news From: ChrisJBrady Date: 23 Jun 11 - 04:30 AM Apparently Facebook is tweeking / fiddling / adjusting / whatever the features - and it is annoying thousands (millions?) of users. Just recently my brother lost his Groups tab - FB had deleted it without notice. And he also lost all of his albums / photos. The problem with Facebook is that profits are being regarded as more important than users. This is an amateur (and arrogant) approach in making changes to the live system without any regard for anyone using it. In i.t. the professional approach is to test changes on a duplicate system, before going live. FB seems to hack around the live system regardless. Pack of amateurs. BTW be aware that the new Questions and Hearts features are designed to suck out your private and personal details for likely transmission to third parties for nefarious reasons. I have a basic FB account linked to a few friend or groups. Its time wasting enough. How users keep up with the inane drivel from hundreds of ephemeral 'friends' is beyond me. Life's too short. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Facebook - Newsfeed/recent news From: nickp Date: 23 Jun 11 - 04:08 AM What's this? The Cat stuck for answers? Surely not. Maybe I'll open this up for general FB abuse as well! *grin* |
Subject: Tech: Facebook - Newsfeed/recent news From: nickp Date: 21 Jun 11 - 08:40 AM Oh no, not FB... My wife & I both have FB accounts. A few days ago, hers, for no apparent reason, lost the 'recent' option, just getting the 'news feed'. Not only that but odd entries appear to be repeated through the feed. She hasn't (knowingly) done anything to change this and mine is as it ever was. Both use Firefox and both have exactly the same issue on more than one computer (Win7 and XP). Is this some Facebook 'enhancement' that is creeping in or has she managed to find some kind of magic button? Apart from the expected usual Cat comments about Windows and Facebook I'd appreciate some sensible thoughts. nick |
