Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Anon Date: 07 Jan 22 - 06:41 PM On several occasions while introducing his band John Denver would introduce her as Renee Armand-Horn, wife of Jim Horn. Not sure how long they were married for. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,John Shatzer Date: 29 Apr 18 - 05:32 PM I'm not sure what happened with Renee and Jim, but I think they reconnected from time to time as friends, but my memory is a bit hazy here. I met Renee on a flight to Baltimore and we dated for about a year, always discovering what an amazing voice she has. She belonged on stage, and still does. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Garp Date: 08 Dec 12 - 04:41 AM Interesting that "One Day in Your Life" was written to be a country song, but finally became a pop hit. Garp |

Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST Date: 31 May 12 - 12:46 AM So nice to see Renee here! Can you recall the details when you wrote the song "One Day In Your Life" and had it recorded? As far as I know, it was only recorded by the late Michael Jackson, who is rather far from country music... |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,renee armand Date: 18 Nov 11 - 11:46 AM What absolutely sweet things you all have said. Thank you, so much. To Renee whose father named her after me... I'm assuming your family was the one who lived with us in San Francisco after coming to the States from the Thailand refugee camps???? What an honor for me, to have a child with my name... and Jim and I were just talking about your family and wondering where they were and what happened after we lost touch. Jim and I just worked together last weekend with the Nashville Symphony. We are dear friends. Thank you all again. Life is so beautiful, isn't it? |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Teresa Date: 20 Aug 11 - 10:52 PM I was fortunate enough to have spent a little time with both of them in the late 70's and 8o's. In fact i remember the day Anwar Sadat was killed because Renee was in my living room letting me listen to her session tapes of "In Time" when Jim called to tell her the news. She was so hurt by the news. Jim and Renee were so loving with their friends, so humble, so extraordinary. They are blessed individuals, and I was blessed to have known them. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Renee Date: 20 Jul 11 - 06:47 AM I was actually named after Renee, her and Jim sponsored my father in the late 70's/early 80's when he came to America. From the stories I've heard they were a great pair, great people. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Edward Newgate Date: 06 Jul 11 - 06:01 AM They got divorced in the mid-1980's. Later on they went their different ways in making music. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 29 Jun 11 - 01:19 AM Hi JDL, When did they get divorced? I'm quite surprised on hearing this... They were both great musicians - I assume they got on well with each other. JX W |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,JDL Date: 26 Jun 11 - 06:56 PM They were married for a number of years in the 1980s. Knew Renee well while they were married and during the divorce; very hard on both of them. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 24 Jun 11 - 12:30 PM Yes, J, the song was co-written by Renne and Renee Armand and Kerry Chater. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Philly John Date: 23 Jun 11 - 11:15 AM By the way I never heard any Renee Armand either, but I saw Jim in concert at least a couple times. |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST,Philly John Date: 23 Jun 11 - 07:59 AM Isn't this too far away from folk? |
Subject: RE: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: GUEST Date: 22 Jun 11 - 11:16 AM Never heard about Renee Armand, but I'm familiar with "What She Wants" - I was thinking that the song was written by Michael Martin Murphey himself, but it's obvious that I'm wrong. I believe I've also heard "One Day In Your Life" quite a while back, but can't remember who sang it - was it Mary Travers? J |
Subject: Lyr Add: What She Wants From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 22 Jun 11 - 11:06 AM What She Wants (Renee Armand) G D C G She hasn't had time to learn about this world G D C She takes each day the way it comes G D C G And she can get sad, but she's just a little girl G D C D She doesn't ask much from anyone G C G But what she wants is you and me Em A C D Love at home like it used to be G C G And what she wants is what we were A C D G C The way we loved when we had her She's only a child but all the tears are real She may wish they didn't show She hasn't got words to tell us how it feels She tries so hard to let us know That what she wants is you and me Love at home like it used to be And what she wants is what we were The way we loved when we had her You may think it's not enough That she wants us back in love And I won't beg and I won't plead But what she wants is what I need What she wants is you and me Love at home like it used to be And what she wants is what we were The way we loved when we had her The way we loved when we had her 1982? I'm not sure. These three songs are all written by Renee for other artists. |
Subject: Lyr Add: One Day In Your Life From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 22 Jun 11 - 09:11 AM One Day In Your Life (Renee Armand) One day in your life You'll remember a place Someone's touching your face You'll come back and you'll look around you One day in your life You'll remember the love you found here You'll remember me somehow Though you don't need me now I will stay in your heart And when things fall apart You'll remember one day One day in your life When you find that you're always waiting For the love we used to share Just call my name And I'll be there You'll remember me somehow Though you don't need me now I will stay in your heart And when things fall apart You'll remember one day One day in your life When you find that you're always longing for the love we used to share Just call my name And I'll be there 1975 |
Subject: Lyr Add: High Wind Blowing From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 22 Jun 11 - 09:08 AM So a few songs written by Renee. High Wind Blowing (Renee Armand) There's such a high wind blowing It's snowing in my bed Oh baby, you started flowers growing Where nothing grew instead I need some things to hide the failure Of my garden, and the way it grew Oh baby, I didn't know I could depend on you There's such a high wind blowing I won't get to sleep tonight I think that warm wind feels alright There's such a high wind blowing I won't get to sleep at all I feel like I'm gonna fall Into your fine high wind You look like twilight falling On the ocean in the setting sun Oh baby, do you know what you have done I feel like you have changed my mind About living the way I do Oh baby, I didn't know I could depend on you There's such a high wind blowing I won't get to sleep tonight I think that warm wind feels alright There's such a high wind blowing I won't get to sleep at all I feel like I'm gonna fall Into your fine high wind 1980 |
Subject: Review: Renee Armand and Jim Horn From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 22 Jun 11 - 09:05 AM Renee is a country singer-songwriter who was active in the 70's and 80's, and Jim is probably the biggest saxophone and flute session player in the rock 'n' roll history. Renee was living in Nashville since the 1980s and has recorded, written for, and sung with artists ranging from John Denver to Michael Jackson, Linda Rondstadt, EmmyLou Harris, Hoyt Axton, Little Feat, and Ringo Starr. She often appears as background singer in the late 70's. She also released a few solo albums including "In Time" and "Rainbook". Jim was the first musician who brought saxophone to country and folk music. He performed with each single Beatle after the Beatles broke up in 1970, he also performed with other singers like the Mamas and Papas, John Denver, Neil Sedaka, Frank Sinatra, the Traveling Wilburys and so on. If you don't know what saxophone will be like in country and folk music, you can listen to "Lost in the Fifties Tonight" by Ronnie Milsap and "Sunshine on My Shoulders" from the 1995 live album by John Denver, in which Jim played an active part. Though I knew Renee lately changed her name into Renee Armand-Horn, I never thought that she and Jim are lovers, until one day I noticed that the album "In Time" was produced by Jim. So I searched on the internet about the relationship between these two musicians, only to find that almost nobody knows that Renee and Jim are lovers. However, one page proved my supposition, but I still wonder why few people know their relationship - both of them are quite famous in their terrain. Do anybody know more about this couple? Thanks, Jason |
