Subject: support for Muppett's Challenge From: muppett Date: 22 Jun 11 - 09:22 AM Hiya, Apologies for putting this thread up again and not on the non music thread, but a number of folk who I've seen recently have said they can't access the non music threads. My youngest Grandchild Amos has recently had his 1st Birthday and a grand little chap he is, however he was born with a rare liver condition known as Billary Atresia and when he was 9 weeks old he had to undergo a 7hr. operation to save his life. The operation was successful, however it is likely that he'll need to have a liver transplant at some stage in the future. He also has to take medication on a daily basis and so has to visit the Children's Liver unit at Leeds General Infirmary regularly. With this mind Amos's parents, relatives and family friends are planning a series of fundraising activities over the coming weeks and the money raised will be split equally between the Children's Liver Disease Foundation to help with research and for ward 12 & the Children's Liver unit at Leeds General Infirmary. My contribution to the fundraising is to walk the Dales way, which starts in Ilkley and finishes in Bowness on Windermere in The Lake District and then walk back, a total distance of 165 miles. I'll be doing it over 7 days between July 23rd & 29th. So I would be greatful if any of you would sponsor me, how much, well I'll leave it up to you to decide, what you can will help. Please look at the following link for details on how you donate and see what over activities are planned; http://www.amosfundraiser.co.uk/ or send me a PM. I'll also be around at Dent and Cleckheaton, so catch me then. Thanks for taking time to read this. Cheers Muppett |

Subject: RE: support for Muppett's Challenge From: Soldier boy Date: 22 Jun 11 - 10:47 AM Sorry to hear about Amos's problems Muppett and I hope everything turns out well for the little fella. That's some walk you are doing to raise funds for those deserving organisations and I am proud of you. I was half tempted to join you on a stretch of the walk until I worked out that you are aiming to walk just short of 24 miles each day, up hill and down fell, so don't think I would be able to keep up with you!! But I am more than happy to sponsor you and I will pledge 15 pence per mile. That works out at £24.75 for all 165 miles, so let's call it £25.00, which I will give you at Whitby Folk Week in August. And a pint or two of good ale in Dent this weekend to build up yer stamina! Cheers bud Chris |

Subject: RE: support for Muppett's Challenge From: muppett Date: 01 Aug 11 - 07:50 AM Happy Yorkshire Day to you all, Well I did it. the weather was kind to me, just a shower of rain as I was finishing day 6 on Thursday as I was walking between Buckden & Kettlewell, didn't get any major blisters, my little toes were a little sore. it was my shoulders that were aching a little by the end, where my rucsac straps were rubbing. Amos, along with his Mum Gemma and his sister Maisy, walked the last 3 miles from Addingham to Ilkley, well Amos was carried for most of it, as I'd probally still be finishing it. Managed to get to Hardraw as well afterwards and walk me usual 2 1/2 miles to work today OK. Thanks to you all who have donated some brass, yep Deb, we got the card from you,Thank you very much so far I've had £1200 donated. see the blue clicky thing further back in the thread for a link to the site that gives you details of how you donate if you still want. We're having a charity concert in Ilkley this coming Saturday, to raise further funds, get in contact if you want further details. Cheers Muppett |

Subject: RE: support for Muppett's Challenge From: ossonflags Date: 04 Aug 11 - 07:10 PM Well done Muppett!! Can you give us some details about ilkley? |
Subject: RE: support for Muppett's Challenge From: muppett Date: 08 Aug 11 - 04:48 AM Hiya, Mark cheers for the bank transfer, Toes are OK, was out up in the Dales again yesterday doing a 12 mile walk (so quite a gentle one compaired to recent ones). Mick, Sorry didn't get back to you, just seen your message and just switched me phone on and got yer text, wondered why me phone had been quite, switched it off when I went into a meeting on friday and only just realised it was still off. Concert went well, Had a mixutre of music during the day,Including Rock, Folk and Hillbilly, not sure yet how much was made, but with ticket sales, the raffle & Auction, it's going to be several hundred pounds, so that'll add to the £1200 I've collected so far from me walk. And Amos's Dad (Dave) and his friends are still planning their Parachute jump that has had to be rearranged due to bad weather. So once again on behalf of my grandson Amos and his Mum (Gemma) & Dad (Dave)thanks to all who have donated to this worthy cause. Cheers Muppett |
Subject: RE: support for Muppett's Challenge From: I don't know Date: 08 Aug 11 - 05:01 AM Well done. Wish I could have joined you. Pleased to see you raised so much for a worthy cause. |
