Hullo,

Does anyone out there have the lyrics to the (in)famous recruiting song "Enlist Bonnie Laddie". The refrain goes:

And it's over the mountain and over the main through Gibralter to France and Spain

So put a feather to your bonnet and a kilt above your knee enlist bonnie laddie and come away with me

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks all!

Forrest

As the file name suggests, the song is "Twa Recruitin' Sergeants" (spelling - it varries a lot, but it's no doubt in the DT. Great song, even if the Dialect/Brogue is essentially incomprehensible much of the time.

Cheers, BK

Cilla Fisher and Artie Trezise recorded it for Folk-Legacy on their For Foul Day and Fair (C-69 - Custom Cassette, complete with booklet of notes and song texts), along with a bunch of other fine songs. It's available through the Mudcat Shop.
