Guitar strap problems.

The average accoustic guitar strap doen't cater for the larger diameter end pin with a jack plug socket in the middle. You can open out the hole on the end of a standard strap, but the groove that it sits in, is shallower on this type of end pin, and it's not secure.
I have got a locking strap for my Tanglewood 12, but the lock doesn't close properly at the jack plug end, and the clip rubs on the underside of the heel on the upside.
What do other Mudcatters do to solve this problem?

I buy my straps from Pat Sullivan, and he punches a hole the correct size for an endpin-jack on request.

Very high-class, hand-made straps. Very superior.

Should have said that he skives the leather down to the correct thickness so that it fits the groove.

Screw a separate metal strap button in for the strap just behind the endpin jack.

And maybe switch the strap end to end, so the locking pin isn't against the body of the guitar.

John, I had a very similar problem with my Tanglewood 6 string. The solution I came across on another forum was a very simple Dunlop strap lock. They're effective and only cost a few dollars. I use them on all my instruments now.

It's not totally obvious from the picture how it works. The clip consists of two plastic discs each with a cam shaped hole. The inner disc rotates in the other. Turn it until the holes line up, slip it over the strap pin then rotate the disc to close the hole as much as it will go. I've never had one work loose.
