I so enjoyed the Tenterden Festival last year, and am delighted to be coming again this year. This time I am coming as a soloist, and as the other half of Mainbrace with Mike O'Leary-Johns. Mike's usual partner Tony Fraser has work committments come up and is unable to make it, so I will be joining Mike for some duo performance. Hope to see plenty of 'Catters at Tenterden, Sept 29 - Oct 2. Cheers Burl/ROY

Just to explain Splott Man's post. Back when I was 70 years old I went on a 'one more round' tour, because I thought that due to my health situation at the time, that it would be the last I would be fit enough to make. I'm happy to state that I was wrong.
In 2013 I will be 80 years old, and still ready to sing, so I plan a 'Roy at 80' tour, just for the hell of it. It will go from 15 June 2013 until 15 June 2014, a whole year of celebration in which I hope to meet up with all my old friends and make some new ones. I was talking about it at Llantrisant club recently and they put my name on the list straight away. I'll be happy to hear from any club,festival, or concert organiser ref this tour, just send me a PM.

now that's good news to hear. Glad your voice and you are getting back out there where they belong. Fine, fine deliverer of songs in a uniquely special way and you've always had a great range and skill in choosing songs and responding so well to different audiences, particularly the ones who love joining in choruses with multiple harmonies. Jolly Good news. I don't run anything myself, but it would be wonderful to see Roy doing the occasional gig again. Always one of my faves, abd a "True Gent" Do it Roy, but......do it gently, and demand at least 3 figure fees for each gig! (plus expenses, and a posh hotel!......Oh and the dancing girls as well, naturally!)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who was saddened by Roy's "retiement" some time ago. To me he was one of the "giants" of traditional (and particularly - sea song) singers. He's a great storyteller as well.

This weekend at (the last) Four Fools Festival I had no reason to revise that opinion - He was magnificent and announced at the final event that felt that he was reclaiming his place on the folk scene and intended to keep on singing while he still had breath.

So it's up to all you folk club and festival organisers to make sure that Roy does go on for ever - book him - you won't regret it.
