Subject: Grace Petrie From: GUEST Date: 15 Jul 11 - 07:23 PM Poster appears to be "livelylass" I wondered if anyone's seen her perform live? I found her determined energy engaging in video. Yes I like Billy Bragg (to whom she clearly owes a deep stylistic debt) but it's also nice to see a young woman out there performing, who doesn't conform to a predictable pretty girlish mold. Here she is singing about how pissed off she is at the Lib-Dems for selling Liberal voters out (yes, that's a protest song aimed at the Lib- Dems!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjuGVfhzh08 |

Subject: RE: Grace Petrie From: GUEST,ToneM Date: 21 Jul 11 - 08:15 AM I know Grace well and can assure you she is not an advocate of pyromania and that references to burning and setting fire in Emily Davison Blues are purely metaphorical. In the same vein I suspect there was very little marching over mountains prior to the demonstration against the student fees increase last December. I've seen Grace live on many occasions, most recently at the Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival last Sunday, where she went down a storm and sold out of CD's. If anyone wants to see her live she's appearing in Leeds, Leicester, London, Sheffield and at the Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham in the coming weeks. |
