Subject: Joyce Katzberg, Portsmouth, NH, July 30 From: ChanteyLass Date: 22 Jul 11 - 09:59 PM My friend and favorite RI folksinger, Joyce Katzberg, posted this on Facebook today For my friends up north, I will be singing at the Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion State Park in Portsmouth, NH, on Saturday, July 30th from 12:30 - 1:30 as part of the "Arts Encounter Preservation, 2011" show. My Friend, Allison Newsome is curating an art exhibit featuring 33 very talented artists. For more information, see the link. I hope to see some of you there. :-) http://www.artencounterspreservation.org/AEP/Exhibiton_Date.html Joyce is a versatile performer with a voice that is both beautiful and strong. Several years ago she organized a Providence Rosalie Sorrels tribute concert that was recorded by WGBH. Joyce sings a variety of folk songs, included some of her original compositions. Mostly I think of her as a singer of songs of peace and social justice, though she often tailors her set list for certain events. I can't go to this concert. I will be at the Newport Folk Festival for which I bought tickets months ago, but if you can go you could become one of her new friends up north. Here's a link to her MySpace page with listening samples. http://www.myspace.com/joycekatzberg |

Subject: RE: Joyce Katzberg, Portsmouth, NH, July 30 From: ChanteyLass Date: 03 Aug 11 - 12:13 AM Joyce enjoyed performing in Portsmouth. She also told me I made an error earlier in this thread. The tribute concert she organized was a tribute to Malvina Reynolds, but Rosalie Sorrels was one of the performers that evening. Malvina, Rosalie, Joyce--for many reasons it is easy for me to think of all of them at the same time. |
