Haunting lyric couplet

I've had the following couplet running around my head all day but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the song or who sang it.

"How simple life would be if Grandma Moses had her way
She'd tell it like it was, not how it is today"

I'm pretty sure that was the start of the 3rd or maybe 4th verse and there were 2 more lines to follow it.

If anyone can identify it I'd be most grateful - this growing old is a bitch
