A shame I'm already committed (to doing something with Radio Tircoed) on Friday 12th, otherwise I'd be there.

Excellent! Just back from the Eisteddfod so this is the first I've seen your post. Ought to be a good night!

Some of the Soar people have been making pibgyrn over the last few weeks - I think they have one or two sessions to go but I hope there is some pibgorn playing in the session as well!

sian

Those nice people at Canolfan Soar have organized a Noson Werin (folk evening) at Soar Chapel in Merthyr Tydfil. Hooray I say. I believe it is bilingual. I'm going anyway, and may even try and play. More details from their website:

On: Friday 12/08/2011 Time: 7.30pm
At: Canolfan Soar, Pontmorlais, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8UB
Canolfan Soar and Clera
WELSH FOLK EVENING - What do you think traditional Welsh music sounds like? You no doubt have heard Irish and Scottish music, but what about Welsh traditional music? We have a huge range of fabulous Welsh songs, airs and dance tunes. So why not come along to the Welsh folk night at Canolfan Soar on Friday August 12th and have a great night joining in with some traditional Welsh tunes

If you play a stringed instrument such as the guitar, harp, mandolin, banjo, fiddle or a wind instrument such as the flute or whistle and would like to learn some Welsh tunes, then please bring it along!

Everyone welcome! Tickets are £5 and are available NOW. Contact Greg on (01685) 722176 or greg@merthyrtudful.org
