Absolute truth. I won back around 1958/9 a red transistor radio. Don't remember what happened to it but it was my night partner for a very long time.

My unforgettable raffle prize winning was, a Southern Fried Chicken flavored Pot Noodle

In case you are wondering, after a couple of years I did try it, and it was far worse than I could ever have imagined

Dave our caller won a Flowery tea cosy at a raffle, sadly it was not fit for purpose , it was obviously made by somebody with a peculiar shaped tea pot, or got the pattern dimensions completely wrong. At our next gig He put it back in their raffle, only to our great joy ,to win it back again. The next gig, sure enough, he turned up with it again and generously donated it to their raffle, which we fixed and he won it for the third time.I learned some new swear words that night.
He binned it, unless anyone has it and we can get him to win it again !!
Thinking about it,it would have made a lovely bobble hat for someone with strange ear placement and a long narrow head.
Al

I won a certificate good for a chicken gizzard dinner at a local bar. Never did redeem it though.

Keep on Kipling - won from Peter Bellamy himself, and I didn't even trouble him to sign it, for shame! I do have a signed (and corrected / amended) copy of The Transports though.

Our local FC used to be notorious for its raffle prizes - British wine was a speciality. There were also regular appearances of something called Scotsmac - a blend of whisky and British wine, and genuinely undrinkable (I know, I tried). (Sincere apologies to whoever took that bottle home from the tombola where it fetched up and discovered that the cap seal was broken. I can assure them that the contents were unharmed, and indeed mostly untouched.)

Once when I was working freelance, & rather short of the readies, I was 1/4 of a winning pub quiz team whose other 3/4 decided to donate the cash prize to charity. In view of the dent this made in my budget I wasn't best pleased. The fact that I then won the raffle should really have helped matters, but somehow taking home a singing snowman didn't improve my mood.

I once put in for 4 items I saw at a fund-raising raffle (known as a 'Chinese auction' for some reason). It turns out that I won all four items - ALL FOUR were things that my mother-in-law had donated because she wanted them out of her house! You should have seen her face when she told me the first item was her old junk... then watched as the next three in a row all had my ticket, too!

was asked to draw the raffle and drew my own number, so I passed it on to a lady who then drew HER own number! - odds on that?

A local musician has just won a raffle prize to beat all - a Rolls Royce!

...yesterday at a church fundraiser croquet tournament (well, it IS Ascot!) Herself was the punter's favourite but lost her semi-final! The last raffle prize to be picked was Susan Boyle's autobiography!
I draw no conclusions!

Years ago, I liked my local pub quiz. No questions about today's "celebrities" or soap operas, so I stood a chance.

Only time I ever won it? Instead of the chance to win big money (up to £200.00) we did a charity one for Children in Need. I won!

The bottle of cheap plonk I had donated.....

Can't remember what we won; but there were once twelve prizes on offer at a church bazaar here in Haddenham, so there were 12 separate draws. Valerie and I had 10 tickets, and we were 8x winners! We only accepted the first one and told them to redraw for all the others. But it was generally agreed a remarkable actuarial event. Wonder if any games-theeorist around here would like to calculate the odds against such an outcome?

Played at a village dance in Sussex one evening, many years ago, and won every prize - including a packet of edible ladies' panties. I only kept one prize (wine) and gave all the rest back - including the panties...

Wee Davie (stalwart supporter of the Star Folk Club in Glasgow) tailored his raffle prize to suit the season -- in winter it might be a couple of leeks and a packet of broth mix.
After the usual prizes of the guest's cd, a bottle of wine etc., this was always much anticipated because it was so wrapped up that the content couldn't be guessed in advance -- and it always raised a round of applause, especially as Davie lived on a restricted budget.

Fond memories of a nice wee man who enjoyed cheery company at least once a week and said his thanks in the best way he knew.

My partner once won the dressing gown worn by Frank Bruno when he fought Tyson.
I did try it on for size but I looked like an extra from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!!
