You must be an honorary member by now, Clive.

Gasworkers of the world, unite - you have nothing to lose but your mains.

I see my now regular MC spots in that most sublime of venues, the Gasworkers Club await me. Mm,m the limited wine list, the soapy lager, the interesting denizens of the downstairs bar and the coterie of smokers on the steps. Well, I yearn for the previously-used British Legion Club (Wild West mural n' all) and the 'Tank' is the next best thing! To be serious, I honestly do miss the Bowling Club as a venue - pity we don't/can't use that one anymore. Really nice, intimate atmosphere.

There's now 9 freely downloadable songs (or just to listen to) on our Soundcloud page that ties in with our Bellamy : Kipling with the Tradition show. This is also Free, at The Mount Hotel, at 3.00pm on the Saturday afternoon.

Shall miss the expression on newcomers' faces, as the ferry appears to be steaming directly into the North Euston ballroom. It seemed so much closer through the windows.

3 of us shall be there, no Jean this year.

Wouldn't miss it Ron!
It was a privilege to be a part of the Festival line-up last year and hope to do a spot at the late night concert again this year.
Regards

First time at Fylde for Napper and Bliss.

We'd agreed to play just the one concert though I now notice we're down for two: The Euston and the Marine Hall - both Sunday afternoon. There and back in the day, sadly, so no chance to explore properly, but lovely to finally make it after many years of trying.

Tom

Folk Ferry trivia: one of the old Fleetwood-Larne ferries can be seen laid up in Belfast docks on the inside cover of the new Spiers & Boden CD. When the last one sailed I sat here listening to it sounding its horn as it sailed away - one of the saddest laments I'd ever heard. Much missed, Fleetwood just ain't the same without them.

Whilst the Fleetwood Folk Club now meets in The Strawberry Gardens on a Thursday night, Ron Baxter's Legendary Sing in The Festival takes place in The Steamer on the Thursday of the festival. Will anyone be at The Stawberry that night I wonder? Quite possibly I shouldn't wonder.

Sorry Al, you've missed the boat. Stena Line stopped sailing to Ireland on the 24th of December 2010.

You can still catch the ferry to Knott End though.

I'll be there as usual, probably on duty in the 'naughty chair'!
Thought the folk club was now in the Strawberry Gardens, owned by the micro brewery??

I'd love to go. But denise has an operation - knee joint replacement.

Have a great time. I just love Fleetwood with the old buildings and the ferries going off to ireland, and all the dancers, and singers, amd lots of old friends.

Its very special place, and we both love it. Hope you get the weather.

Ross-

Thanks!

Will Margaret Walters also be featured at this Festival or is her tour later in the year?

I'd love to attend but my current plans for revisiting the UK are not until 2013.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Hi, Charley
We're doing a curtailed reprise of "The Golden Dream", Fleetwood Folk Club's presentation for Fleetwood's 175th anniversary this year. The shows took place 30th June and 1st July in the ballroom of the North Euston Hotel. Good audiences both nights, songs, slides, stories and sketches very well received. More than two hours' worth to be crammed into about 90 minutes!

We'll also be presenting "Bellamy: Kipling with the Tradition", looking at Peter Bellamy's settings of Rudyard Kipling's poems. Bellamy recognized the rhythms and cadences of traditional tunes in many of Kipling's works. After setting several of the poems to traditional tunes, he discovered a facility for making his own tunes in various idioms, and developed a considerable body of work, from which we'll try to include a representative selection. Ron Baxter (SailorRon), a Kipling enthusiast of long standing, will be singing as well (Gunga Din and Mandalay - his "tours de force") accompanied by the Earthbound concert party (fiddle, banjo and concertina).
