Builders fc Huddersfield circa 1963, David Hardcastle has communicated with Yorkshire Garland from Thailand where he now lives quite happily!

Song is "Take a number 40 bus to Marsden" and may have been numbered from the old Tram route ~ I seem to remember Trolley Buses in Huddersfield in those days?

David mentions Lewis Woodhead, Big Bill Letters, Shaun something, and Royds Hall school

My knowledge is form around the 1970s of the fclub and Brian and Geoff and Pam and Judith

Anyone know the song etc?

Ray

Shaun (surname???) organised the Huddersfield club when the first Yorkshire Federation of Folk Clubs was founded around 1966 (members included Rotherham, Barnsley and Huddersfield). I think Gus Grenfall was one of the Colne Valley organisers then too.

Never heard the song but I can confirm the Number 40 Trolley Buses went to Marsden, the turnaround was at the Fall Lane roundabout. The number 41 only went as far as Slaithwaite
