Subject: Bruce Hutton's music, awesome! From: GUEST,babypix Date: 04 Aug 11 - 11:00 PM [A totally unsolicited testimonial] In case anyone has missed the music of the versatile and wonderful American singer/instrumentalist, Mr. Bruce Hutton, late of the Double Decker Stringband; PLEASE give yourself a BIG TREAT and take a listen to his many recordings. He is truly a national treasure whose music is really a tonic for...everything! It'll make you smile, whistle, sing, and dance along. Bruce still performs in the Washington, DC area. He is truly the real thing! Listen and learn...and, better, yet, listen with a young friend for whom Bruce will open up a whole WORLD of old-time delightfulness! http://www.huttonfolkways.com/ Deborah Robins & Larry Hanks www.larryhanks.com www.cdbaby.com/cd/hanksrobins |

Subject: RE: Bruce Hutton's music, awesome! From: Dan Schatz Date: 04 Aug 11 - 11:45 PM I grew up on Bruce's music, and he remains a good friend. (He played and sang at my wedding reception.) He's a first rate instrumentalist, a great singer, a wonderful guy and a whole lot of fun! Dan |

Subject: RE: Bruce Hutton's music, awesome! From: Art Thieme Date: 05 Aug 11 - 05:20 PM Tell Bruce for me that I still recall fondly the times I stayed at the Hutton house while in D.C. back when I was gigging thirty years ago. As a serious keeper of the flame of old-timey music, there are few that can equal him today. He is a master multi-instrumentalist, song finder and singer. And in recent times I've heard that Bruce Hutton and the incandescent singer, Martha Burns, are singing together on occasion. I surely do hope they think seriously about making a CD for us out here who, now, can only imagine how high the fruits of their labors might reach. Too much verbosity there I think--sorry. But mostly all that is true. And since Deborah and Larry are doing great CDs, Bruce and Martha now know that at least one guy here in Peru is in their corner. (I do suspect there are more!) MARTHA, Your website has your great music for clicking and listening, but because I can only get a dial-up connection here, I've not been able to listen to you. If I sound pissed, it's because I am; but surely not at you!! Love to you all, Art |

Subject: RE: Bruce Hutton's music, awesome! From: Bill D Date: 06 Aug 11 - 09:00 PM I first saw/heard Bruce in 1973, when he was hosting an open mike at The Red Fox Inn in Bethesda, MD...(Art will remember the place). When I moved to the area permanently in '77, I used to take the bus to the Red Fox, and Bruce would give me a ride home late. He knew his music and made much good music ....and introduced SO many great musicians to me & others. He ain't done yet! |
