Diva - you'd love it - it would be right up your street ! ;-)
Looking forward to seeing you at Whitby.

And Suegorgeous, yes there will be some good singers there, some of whom would be booked artists elsewhere in their own right, but as Guest Guest (who dat?) said everyone gets a go ... and not everybody that goes is necessarily a singer. Don't expect more than a couple of songs or possibly three over the whole weekend though - it's not that sort of an event. However, if you like listening to good singing, interesting songs, and just generally socialising with like minded people it should be great if it's predecessor, the Dorset Singing Weekend, is anything to go by. (And I'm just sad that I can't get there this year ... here's to a chance next year)

Just to add to the weekend there is a fine golf course attached to the club. Plus there are 3 walks signposted just to start the day off before singing. The food is excellent and beer good.

Suegorgeous

My experience of these sort of weekends would indicate all participants being given a fair go!

I've been singing traditional songs at clubs, festivals, weekends such as this for over 40 years but still find lots of interesting and inspiring stuff to listen to as well as being given a chance to add my twopennorth.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

.. last post was me. Also, the weekend does actually sound as if it'll consist mainly of experienced "fantastic" singers, with only 10 spaces left for the rest of us... could be a bit intimidating for us average ones?

Or maybe they've all made contact by the email given above. I don't know yet if I can make it, still juggling dates.

Or it could be that, during the peak holiday season, you need more than two days for people to see the message.

Of course there's always the possibility that other fans of traditional song are already elsewhere that weekend. Hope it goes well.

Well!

After all the fuss previously it appears there are no traditional singing devotees in Yorkshire other than those already contacted.

Could be that they are not used to paying!

Yes, Mary Smith comes from Lewis in the Western Isles, and is a fine exponent of the Scots Gaelic song tradition.

If you, or anyone, would like to see the full details please PM me or mail here

Regards

Richard

Between 16th-18th September 2011 we are running a weekend of traditional song near Selby in West Yorkshire.

The weekend will consist of unaccompanied singing sessions, which will showcase our guests, and give opportunities for paying guests to contribute songs. There is an excellent camp site at the venue, and accommodation is available locally. The venue also provides good food and real ale.

Our guests are:

Kevin and Ellen Mitchell
John Waltham
Mary Smith
Grace Toland
Brian Dawson

Many fantastic singers have already booked tickets from all over the British Isles. The venue we have booked has a capacity for about 10 more paying guests. The price for the weekend ticket is £40.

If you are interested please contact us as soon as possible for more information, as we doubt there will be any more places left after Whitby Week. Please email , with your name and contact details if you are interested.

Regards
