Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: Surreysinger Date: 14 Aug 11 - 04:32 PM Diva - you'd love it - it would be right up your street ! ;-) Looking forward to seeing you at Whitby. And Suegorgeous, yes there will be some good singers there, some of whom would be booked artists elsewhere in their own right, but as Guest Guest (who dat?) said everyone gets a go ... and not everybody that goes is necessarily a singer. Don't expect more than a couple of songs or possibly three over the whole weekend though - it's not that sort of an event. However, if you like listening to good singing, interesting songs, and just generally socialising with like minded people it should be great if it's predecessor, the Dorset Singing Weekend, is anything to go by. (And I'm just sad that I can't get there this year ... here's to a chance next year) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: selby Date: 14 Aug 11 - 01:42 PM Just to add to the weekend there is a fine golf course attached to the club. Plus there are 3 walks signposted just to start the day off before singing. The food is excellent and beer good. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: Diva Date: 14 Aug 11 - 12:54 PM Looks like a belter of a weekend. Would love to be there |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: GUEST,Give us a clue - oops Date: 13 Aug 11 - 09:18 PM Pressed the wrong button! to Paul Davenport Just out of curiosity - where are you that weekend? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: GUEST,Guest Date: 13 Aug 11 - 09:14 PM Suegorgeous My experience of these sort of weekends would indicate all participants being given a fair go! I've been singing traditional songs at clubs, festivals, weekends such as this for over 40 years but still find lots of interesting and inspiring stuff to listen to as well as being given a chance to add my twopennorth. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: GUEST,suegorgeous Date: 13 Aug 11 - 08:17 AM .. last post was me. Also, the weekend does actually sound as if it'll consist mainly of experienced "fantastic" singers, with only 10 spaces left for the rest of us... could be a bit intimidating for us average ones? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: GUEST Date: 13 Aug 11 - 08:14 AM Or maybe they've all made contact by the email given above. I don't know yet if I can make it, still juggling dates. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: Doug Chadwick Date: 13 Aug 11 - 06:30 AM Or it could be that, during the peak holiday season, you need more than two days for people to see the message. DC |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: Paul Davenport Date: 13 Aug 11 - 05:10 AM Of course there's always the possibility that other fans of traditional song are already elsewhere that weekend. Hope it goes well. Paul |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: GUEST,Guest Date: 13 Aug 11 - 04:05 AM Well! After all the fuss previously it appears there are no traditional singing devotees in Yorkshire other than those already contacted. Could be that they are not used to paying! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Traditional Song Weekend From: nutty Date: 11 Aug 11 - 04:13 AM would have loved to come but unfortunately I'm elsewhere that weekend. |
