From: growler
Date: 18 Aug 11 - 05:03 PM

Folk and ale weekend. John Barden on Saturday and 'Ruff'n'Reddy on Sunday. We are hosting, you will make it special. Saturday, Dereck Moore will be celebrating his 70th birthday, he has been running folk clubs since Adam was a boy, please come and make his day.
Sunday, it's my 61st and Dals 41st, not such a milestone, but one of us will be legless. I wonder who?   Simon

I might be able to make the Sat. Sunday looks like a no-legger from here, just sit Dal on a toadstool and you'll be away.

I'll ignore the abuse, it was a slip of an aging finger. We will also be drawing the raffle, with prizes of musical instruments, to raise money for a recording studio, run by and for recovering substance misusers, where we will be teaching them to play and giving them the oportunity to record what they have learned. This will be happening on the Sunday at 3.00. You will be pleased to learn that I will not be showing them how to tune their guitars. Tickets will be on sale all weekend

I have always thought that Simon was such a considerate and genuine person, and was proved right when he said that he was'nt going to show people how to tune their guitars.

What a lovely person

From Wee Jock a very good friend

B&B booked for Saturday night so we shall be drinking on Saturday from open until close, I suppose.

Will there be a dinner break on Saturday? Want to book Shozna but don't want to miss the music.

On the Sunday, the raffle will be drawn, raising money for a recording studio for recovering substance misusers. The prizes are still coming in, but already we have several guitars donated by friends. It will be drawn by a director of KCA at 3 o clock. Thanks for all your support and to Paul Steele, who donated the first guitar and gave me the idea Simon

Thank you for your kind words Sue. There were two major word glitches and I missed several harmonies but I am glad to infer that they did not show too much - and it was after a very fraught journey with the wheel falling off the trailer (which has not happened since).

And yes we do seem to have mislaid our cookie - very careless of us I know but to be honest I wasn't that attached to it anyway.

I think Pete means he doesn't understand why a band was booked when the place will be filled with people who come to this event to play and sing. I am a bit disappointed that there will be no session in the evening. Wondering why I bothered to book B&B now, especially since we can't stay very long on Sunday.

And thanks to the relatively small, but select (!), group that turned out on Sunday. Lovely weather, a nice relaxed afternoon and the amusing sight of a pear dropping off the tree, narrowly missing Simon's head, knocking his pint of beer over and splitting into two!
