I know I've seen this on an album somewhere, but I can't remember where . . . can you help with any info on this tune and/or recorded sources?

"FARMER KILLED HIS OX TODAY, THE. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. E Minor/G Major. Standard. AAB. Editor Paul Cranford (1994) identifies this tune as a variant of "The Morning Star [1]." Source for notated version: learned by fiddler Brenda Stubbert (b. 1959, Point Aconi, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia) as a teenager from Irish-style fiddler John Walker (born in Cape Breton c. 1885) [Cranford]. Cranford (Brenda Stubbert's), 1994; No. 70, pg. 25."

Refresh.

Guest posts are allowed in music threads, fyi. I see on another thread started by you that someone suggested that as the reason you couldn't find THIS one. Nope.

Here it is.

Yeah, I'm just too stupid for words today! Found both threads, both with answers, which were very helpful, and apologized on the thread where I asked where they'd gone! Duh.

How does one stop being a guest around here? I thought I'd signed up to be a member.

And YES! Of course! Slainte Mhath! That's where I'd seen it. As a matter of fact, I have that CD sitting right here at my elbow.

Thanks so much!

Marcia

Hi, Marcia -

I haven't received a membership application from you, but we'd be glad to have you as a member. Just send me an e-mail - soon, because I'm getting ready to go on vacation.

Joe, e-mail is in your inbox.

Guest.999: Thanks to you, I'll be playing that Slainte Mhath selection on my September 3rd show. It's a Labor Day Weekend special: The Farmer Feeds Us All. That tune will be a nice addition.

Marcia
