The circle on the headstock is silver, very shiny almost like a CD. It has 2 circles on it that intertwine, very heavy my friend has had it for 50 years. No name on it anywhere. Can anyone help? I have pics

Thank you

A deering has two circles on it but it also has an eagle. this may very well be some custom made banjo. There are many quality makers that do one of a kind work. The fact that it is very heavy tells me it is no asian banjo ... probably a very valuable instrument. What is the wood? Maple?

There are quite a few Asian "Masterclones" that weigh a fair bit around.

My 21 year old Aria [ Korean ] Masterclone is a seriously heavy banjo.

To guest999, I have pictures on my computer, can I upload to this site or can you give me a way to send to you? I have never played this banjo, belongs to a friend who is wanting to sell it.

Thanks

Rhonda

Rhonda,

If you have pics loaded to your computer, get one or two into the Google Images search. There is a facility there that will search all images and see if any match. If the symbol is on GI, it may lead to a few words that say what the make is.

If that doesn't work, email me at

irishancestry at gmail dot com
