There's an interesting and provocative article in the latest Stirrings (S Yorks folk mag) by 'Suibhne O'Piobaireachd'which argues that Folk is a fantasy culture projected onto an era that never existed via a select interpretation of history etc. Like Steampunk.

A selective and mediated comfort product for its afficionados.Discuss!
