"Tom Forest in the Archers"
The actor who played Tom Forrest was Bob Arnold from Burford in Oxfordshire who was first recorded by the BBC in 1952.
There was a vinyl album of him singing, including The Village Pump.
Can't help with the blog - sorry.
Jim Carroll
Good luck with your bike ride - hope you have better luck with the weather than we are experiencing in the west of Ireland.

But I couldn't find the Village Pimp on youtube - it just offered all these sexy sites!!!
And when I added Kippers, all I found was breakfast stuff - salted herrings!!!
A few other Kipper family songs are there tho'.

I find that using Google with a site qualifier (site:youtube.com) yields better results than the YouTube native search, which wanders almost immediately from what you really requested, long before it pulls up all directly-relevant entries.

You can also hear it in this clip, though not until about half-way through. At least in this one you can hear the whole tune without the audience shouting to mask it--or the silly attention-seekers in the background. But I think the song gets cut off, so you may need to suffer through both to get the whole song.
