The price is $60 for 6 CDs (5 x This Is Us, + Until The Dark Time Ends--seasonal CD)

Arrangements for U.S. mail order will be announced after the Getaway.

Please do note that as with the previous BLUE PLATE SPECIALS, we will be following the same policy of NOT providing complementary copies to contributors, just as the production team are not being paid and whom also will pay for copies. This is because we are supporting a worthy charitable cause, The Mudcat Cafe.
I believe it is customary to present one complementary set to the guy who made all this possible.

As Dick says, we want to sell sets initially to keep things as simple as possible, but we will consider other permutations a little later.

Y'know, initially we just want to try and get a set of CDs to folks who want to get their hands on one set. We know there are gonna be variations in demand, but please keep it simple for us to send out sets initially, then later (perhaps aftere new year) we can deal with the variations. We are getting a batch made to supply the US and UK. After the intial rush, we will sort you out.

Patience, my friends, there will be plenty of time after Christmas to sort out specific requirements. We have said you can have any mix of 6 for $60--but later, ok? In the meantime do let us know by email or PM what your requirements are.

We are doing the best we can here --- this is not a commercial operation--we are just doing what we can for Mudcat. The BLUE PLATE SPECIALS have been around for 9 years and we hope the THIS IS US series will keep you going for awhile until we get another volunteer to produce the next set. Remember the current price is a good deal, so lets keep the funds rolling in for Mudcat.

Some people are reading Dick's posts to mean one can not order the CD's until after the Getaway.

My understanding is Yes, please, go ahead and order them. We are a small business with limited staff, and we will begin shipping mail orders for the CD when we return from the Getaway. We also ain't spring chickens, but want to be sure we bring enough of the sets to the Getaway to satisfy the demand there, but also don't want to find ourselves lugging extra crates of unsold Mudcat CD's back into the van on Monday morning if we can help it. We carry a very large selection of hard-to-find music. Lots of bins. Bins and bins of cd's are heavy. Keeping them in good order is also a big job. Dick and Susan offer an amazing service, offering hard to find and often otherwise commercially unavailable cd's to a narrow and selective market. They do it for love of the music, but also to make a living, and it ain't an easy or lucrative living.

Those of us who have made a good part of our living at some point or another in our lives loading and unloading as vendors or artisans at craft shows and events know the deal. It doesn't get physically easier as the spinal disks degenerate. And few not in a similar business can be expected to know all the work involved behind the scenes that is well beyond the loading and unloading.

Dick and Susan, if I have presumed too much in saying this, slap me down. You guys are unsung heros.

Janie, thanx for the kind words. Knees go , too, And there's a physical limit on how many CDs, books, bedrolls and instruments we can cram into a (admittedly large) Subaru Outback, even with the addition of a hitch-mounted cargo carrier.

It occurred to me -- just a tad too late to work out at the Getaway -- that if any localized group of people were to collect info on who wanted which of the 6 new Mudcat CDs, it would be rather simple to put together whole-set orders and distribute them to the various members of the buying group.

E.g., let's say in the FSGW group there are:
5 people who want "Sky"
6 people who want "Earth"
4 people who want "Water"
5 people who want "Wood"
7 people who want "Stone" (or whatever the other 'element' is)
and
6 people who want "Until The Dark Time ends"

That would mean if the 'group' purchased 4 sets, all 24 CDs could be sold to group members for $60. (Had this been done at Getaway, it would have avoided the S&H fees, but if it's done now, those fees would be shared among those who buy the CDs.

For people who live near each other and get together fairly often, I think this is a great way to make the individual CDs available to people who can't afford to buy all 6 and/or who really don't want/need all 6.

when the first set of Mudcat CD's were produced I was both perennially financially broke and a relative newbie and never heard the entire set. This time round, able to buy the set, and much more aware, as well as much more valuing the community, I am so cherishing my long, slow, careful listening to the CD's. A fair number of you I have now met, and beyond that, gotten to know, either on-line or during that brief but intense opportunity to recognize kinship on levels beyond music (and the music empowers that that spark of recognition) called the Getaway.

From what I have heard thus far, these cd's showcase the fine music and craft of many, many finely talented mudcatters who are practiced in their craft and love of music, and a handful of us who are not. But this collection is bigger than just the many examples of wonderful music. It is about the ties that bind, and it is clear, both on this site and on this cd the infinite number of ties that bind.

Barrie, Michael R., Genie and the others whose names right this second I can't call to mind, thank from my heart for this labor of love.

But especially, thank you Max. You continue to be a courageous pioneer.

I've been very careful to keep CAMSCO sales (thereoretically for-profit) separate from Mudcat (not-for profit) sales. Adding "THis is Us" to my CAMSCO Website would really screw up the more-or-less automated accounting system. Not to mention my accountant come tax time.
