So cute! They were great. The recording industry owes so much to the pioneers of
over dub multitrack recording, L.P. and M.F.

Their recordings of "How High The Moon" and "Lover" are among their classics.

I wonder how he feels (or felt) about the Les Paul being used for hard rock?

I think its degrading music-hall level stuff reducing art to entertainment.

But Richard, is not art in the eye of the beholder? Is not music both art and entertainment?
I do wonder if those guitars that they played were the first ever of Gibson's Les Paul line ???

Stringsinger, it doesn't seem like Les Paul minds too much in this clip with Keith Richards

The recording and guitar making/playing industry owes more to Les Paul than anyone else. Bridge is talking rubbish again.

Richard Bridge. "I think its degrading music-hall level stuff reducing art to entertainment."

Absolutely. If you want some really powerful guitar playing try those legendary black musicians Fred McDowell or Mississippi John Hurt or Lonnie Johnson. Alternatively, there's the Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt or any number of traveller musicians who followed in his wake. My personal favourite is Angelo Debarre.

Come to think of it, Victor Jara was pretty nifty as well.

It's not a question of technical ability, or whether Leo Fender did more for guitar manufacturing than Jim Burns - it's twee middle of the road subordinate the female but watch out for her wiles "family entertainment". That is not a term of praise.
