THE OLD HOMING WALTZ (T. O'Connor / M. Reine) Dickie Valentine - Also recorded by : Vera Lynn.

A crowd stood around you The night when I found you
They each wanted you In the old homing waltz
Though you never knew me You smiled and came to me
And I found you mine In the old homing waltz

This sweet melody That brought you to me
Will linger forever In my memory

I found what I prayed for The arms I was made for
The night when we danced To the old homing waltz.

"This was #1 on my Birthday 10/31/52 except it was the version by Vera Lynn and Alma Cogan"

Does anyone know of a song called The Old Homing Waltz> It is the same tune as the old 19th century tune, 'The Streets Of Larado' which done well. I think it was written by Bob Merril in 1950 or a few years later. It's better to play at gigs because the words are happier. There are other recordings by artists around the early 1950s. If anyone can get more information on who wrote the song... plus if anyone has a recording it would be lovely!
