Subject: RE: BONNY BUNCH OF ROSES From: The Sandman Date: 24 Sep 11 - 01:12 PM a classic example of simple song accompaniment, being effective, and tremendous singing. |

Subject: RE: Bonny Bunch of Roses - video example From: GloriaJ Date: 25 Sep 11 - 05:09 AM Beautiful singing - not over-ornamented like many young trad singers today. He's in Bb so the guitar tuning cant possibly be open D,or DADGAD, he's just tuned to a major chord - er, Bb? It works, and sounds wonderfully old-fashioned. |

Subject: RE: Bonny Bunch of Roses - video example From: Commander Crabbe Date: 25 Sep 11 - 06:08 PM You can be sincere and still be stupid. ~Charles F. Kettering GloriaJ and GSS, you are of course correct and I stand corrected I failed to even consider plugging the tuner into the laptop to find out what key he was actually singing in!!!! Still the tuning looks interesting and I may even give it a go myself. Regards Chris (still learning after all these years) |
Subject: RE: Bonny Bunch of Roses - video example From: Commander Crabbe Date: 25 Sep 11 - 06:09 PM Hmm "Still learning after all these years" There's a song in there somewhere! CC |
Subject: RE: Bonny Bunch of Roses - video example From: The Sandman Date: 26 Sep 11 - 08:49 AM so chris and gloria , do you reckon he is tuned d, b flat, d,f, bflat .d. |
Subject: RE: Bonny Bunch of Roses - video example From: Commander Crabbe Date: 26 Sep 11 - 07:43 PM I tuned my guitar to that tuning just before I went out to work this evening. To be honest it didnt sound much like the you tube version! That said there there cant be many other ways to tune to open Bb. I only did it quickly so when I have a bit more time to fiddle around with it I'll give it another go. Chris |
