USA politicians dominating USA TV news (pre USA election stuff for about two years) kind of "pees on my foot". Why do news guys/gals pretend it's news and so many TV watchers believe it is so?.

So much so, that I have turned over to (non scripted, ya right) C grade TV programs with real (so called) people repossessing stuff, punky (sketchy) exterminator guys wrestling with(aka making love to) or catching alligators, buying junk at auctions or pawn shops or turning junk into expensive furniture.

Well I'm upset because I must have had a tranmitter inserted into my brain which directs nicer restaurants to play old Frank Sinatra recordings whenever I want to dine.

Old Blue Eyes is bad enough, with his thin, cold, never-changing voice. The screaming blatting brass instruments, which must, by federal law, end the tune with a blast of discordance, are even worse.

Though of course we all know that we aren't supposed to post anything tragic or heartbreaking which truly upsets us. A person who is insightful rather than merely erudite knows that Little Hawk just wants someone to talk to for a while. Naturally male pride prevents him from saying that, so he uses pseudo-tough language like "stupid jerkwad stuff."

I shouldn't have to explain this. But wait, a lot of you are merely males yourselves. Forget I said that.

I've already contributed Frank Sinatra in restaurants. Here's another to get you going in the right direction:

Affluant people who go on vacation with small children that they don't know how to take care of. (Because a hired person usually does it.) I've just been to the Canadian Rockies and seen several examples. Taking your 3-year-old to a region of big boulders and high cliffs? Expecting your 4-year-old to consume balsamic vinegar (black, sour and runny)? Allowing your 2-year-old to emit hoarse, gutteral screams which actually hurt others' (i.e. my) ears?

In convenience stores, where there's a self-serve coffee area, there are always cartons of cream, milk, and artificial creamers. Hardly anyone ever pours that stuff into their coffee and then closes the container. It takes only a fraction of a second to close it, but no one seems to have the time. Radio traffic reports, not just at rush hour, but at all times of the day. I know they are often very valuable. And given the traffic around here, necessary. However, they make me tense, and just remind me how rushed and congested life is.

Oh, and the sound of any of a number of yard machines that always seem to be operating when I am trying to relax. And they seem to be at some pitch that is especially annoying, roughly akin to fingernails on a chalkboard.

crazy little woman - The reason I started this thread wsa to make fun of a similarly moronic thread that "Guest, josepp" started where he was pointlessly bitching about what a stupid jerkwad sport NFL football is.

I thought his thread deserved to be made fun of, so I started this thread (tongue-in-cheek) to allow people to pointlessly bitch about not just NFL football...but absolutely EVERYTHING! ;-) All in fun, you see. And people have responded heroically. Whether josepp will take away anything useful from this bit of satire is debatable, but it has been fun.

I mentioned that I had just visited the Canadian Rockies. We were in spectacular part - Jasper, Banff and Yoho National Parks, where rocks as old as Precambrian have been thrust sideways and uplifted to form incredible mountains.

I came home convinced that I could go on the internet and find explanations for this based on plate tectonics, a science now about 50 years old. But could I? No-o-o-o.

Believe it or not, the Canadian Geologic Survey offers the geologic map of Canada, but it doesn't have the stratigraphic column on it. This is like publishing a map and leaving the numbers off the highways.

The Bush Administration in lame duck session passed a law that required the US Post office to pay in full for all Employees, including employees that have not even been born yet for the next 75 years.... and pay it all to the Treasury in 10 years. ( It was revised from 5 to 10 years)

This has never been done to any agency or business in history.

Why?

So that Billionaires could take over parts of the post office, skimn 18% off the top over 3 years for profit and go bankrupt.

The hostile take over should net Billionaire investors five times their investment and for some make over a trillion dollars.

The current workers would of course lose their pension, 30% of jobs and cost the country more money and dreadful or suspended service.

Bad libraries. The local library near where we have just moved has lots of Mills and Boon, celeb autobiographies, chic-lit and so on, but no 'classics'. Whether that means Jane Austin, Dostoyevsky, Dickens or Chaucer to you matters not - they don't have it. Not even Shakespeare! There's probably no book in there published more than, oh, twenty years ago.

But a *good* library is something else.
