A rather splendid double bill is on offer next Tuesday at The Musician in Leicester with Andy Cutting & Jim Causley.

Neither of these wonderful musicians really need an introduction but here's one anyway.

Twice winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Musician Of the Year, Andy Cutting has worked with everyone from Chris Wood to June Tabor, Sting to the Who. A soulful and technically outstanding melodeon practitioner with an ear for a fine tune, many of his tunes have been purloined along the way with some considered contemporary classics. He is a warm and emotive performer, modestly engaging his audiences with his self-deprecating wit (and the odd recipe or two!) and then flooring them with downright staggering musicianship. There are few melodeon players who put so much feeling into their playing, whether it is a set of dance tunes, or accompaniment to a slow English ballad.

You can have a listen to him here , and also discover why the words "potato" and "theatre" are significant to him!

Devon folk singer Jim Causley released his third solo album, Dumnonia, earlier this year. He's been part of The Devil's Interval and Mawkin:Causley and toured with Waterson:Carthy and The Beautiful South's David Rotheray. Most recently in Leicester In February with Steve Knightley, he's known for his warm, rich and mature singing voice (quoted as being akin to the fruitiest of real ales!), his natural gift for interpreting song and his wry and cheeky stage presence.

Here is is performing The Alphabet Song earlier this year.

Tickets are are £10 from wegottickets or The Musician.

Doors are at 8pm with music starting at 8.30pm and finishing around 11.
