Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: gnu Date: 30 Sep 11 - 09:57 PM Late 1970s or so Ford F-150 straight six 4X4 manual tranny. I wish I still had mine. This 2010 has all the perks but I can't fix it when it fucks up. And I KNOW it will... about three days after the warranty is up. My tool kit is a little plastic card and a bank account.... sighhhhhh.... I used to change my plugs... I used to... you know... now... I am scared for the future. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: JohnInKansas Date: 30 Sep 11 - 10:12 PM Gosh gnu, my service manual for my 2008 Chevy 1500 says you never need to change the plugs. (Actually, her 1994 Chev S10 says the same thing, and I know that's true 'cause it still fires on at least 2 cylinders, even though it's getting close to 102,000 miles now.) John |

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: Gurney Date: 01 Oct 11 - 05:38 AM My first car was a 1938 AC open tourer, and would be among the prettiest cars ever made IMO. It was older than me, and I wish I still had it, but you can't run old cars as a main vehicle. SS Jaguar. Squire. Citroen Big 15 Any pre-BMC Riley. Dreams from childhood. |

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 01 Oct 11 - 06:05 PM I had my dream car. BMW 1972 3CS, which I passed on to a son. Crossed Montana in quick time, back before they put in speed limits. Cruised nicely at 120 mph. |
Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 01 Oct 11 - 07:53 PM Rap .... good choice in a vehicle. our last 3 cars have been Subarus 2001 Forester 2004 Outback 2008 Forester ... which I swear will be my last car. I intend to keep it until I croak, which could be tomorrow, or 30 years from now. I would drive nothing but a Suby. Fantastic in the climates we live in. I prefer the boxy Foresters .... regardless they are all of excellent quality and driveability. biLL |

Subject: RE: BS: Dream Car??? From: GUEST,ChanteyLass Date: 02 Oct 11 - 12:06 AM Mock Subarus if you must, but when I bought my 2002 Impreza WRX, Consumer Reports called it "Most Fun to Drive." It was my dream car. I fell in love with it before I checked CR's ratings but resisted the urge to buy. When I saw what CR had to say, I decided to buy it if I could negotiate a good bargain, which I think I did. Now the car has 97,000 miles and I will hang on to it until it dies unless I find my new dream car. Nobody makes it yet. I would like to buy a small, high mpg (probably hybrid), all-wheel drive car. I would prefer a Ford because I appreciate the fact that the company didn't take a bailout. It would help if I could buy at a dealership near me. A Consumer Reports high rating for reliability would be a plus. My dreams are practical. |
