I thought it was a different version to the one I'd heard by my mother when I was younger alright. The Crowley / de Cógáin version, as far as I recall, was closer to hers and because I like to sing in her style as much as I can for sentimental reasons I'll probably stick with the two lads. But that Kavanagh version is beautiful too, never heard of him before but I have now!

Not sure that "accurate in the traditional version" means a lot here but FWIW, that YouTube version is Ron Kavana taking a pretty free approach to the air. Some of his variations would be a little unusual, to my ear. Great voice, though!

I'm learning this song at the minute, but I'm not sure which air is the most accurate in the traditional version.

On YouTube there is a great version at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDvab9Br3Zw and then there's the Jimmy Crowley and Máirtín de Cogáin one. I'd love to do it right!
