There are a couple of lines I can't get in Snooks Eaglins"I'm a country boy down in New Orleans". Can anyone come up with the full lyrics?

What do you have so far, Greg?

I second 999's request; I might be able to help if I knew just which words you couldn't decipher.

I don't own a recording, but I've heard this song often enough over the years to be familiar with it. (It gets fairly regular airplay on WWOZ M90.7 in New Orleans, also available worldwide at www.wwoz.org.) I'd like to thinnk I'd be able to fill in your blanks frm memory.

Snooks was an absolute treasure. I probably attended more of his live gigs than anyone else's since, say, the early 80s up until his fairly-recent passing.

Here's what I was able to transcribe from a recording at Spotify:

(I'M A) COUNTRY BOY DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS
As sung (by Eaglin?) on "The Blues of Snooks Eaglin & Boogie Bill Webb" (Storyville Records, 2004)

I'm a country boy down in New Orleans. (2x)
Can't get nowhere to get no greasy greens.

Creole gal, turn your damper down. (2x)
Take a country boy …. (?)*

Creole gal, turn your damper down. (2x)
Take a country boy ….(?)

[This is not the same recording made by Eaglin in the 1950s. That one is on the Arhoolie album "Country Boy Down in New Orleans" (1991). In a sample at Allmusic.com, I heard the line "The pots is boilin', spillin' on the ground"—in place of the line marked with an asterisk above.]

Pretty hair, great big beautiful eyes
Make a country boy, soon enough get wise

...All the creole chicks eat them beans and greens

...That pretty brown hair makes a clown lose his sound(?)
