Hello Folks

Major apologies for hi-jacking your forum with a plug for a show - however I thought the community on here would be interested to hear that we have the wonderful Christine Collister playing at Jagz Club in Ascot, Berkshire next Thursday - 13th October.

Tickets are £10 in advance from Jagz on 01344 878100 or from this link: www.wegottickets.com/event/130487

Doors are at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Please if you live local to the Bracknell/Ascot area - do check out www.artree.org.uk.

We put both folk and roots showcase events and guest nights on each month, and we're extremely keen to both build the audience and also meet new musicians keen to play one of the shows.

Plug over - apologies again.

Thanks

Phil

As 'Catters know, I'm more of a jazz, blues & skiffle guy than a folkie but I have been to several of the shows Phil has put on at Jagz and I've been impressed by the quality of the young talent he has booked, he usually gets a good crowd but could always do with more, so come along. As I've said on another thread about Christine, I'm committed elsewhere that night so I won't be there (thus lowering the average age of the audience somewhat). Incidentally, back in the '60s folk audience were all beards and Arran sweaters. Judging from Phil's audience now they are mostly cleanshaven and wearing horizontal stripes.

Thanks for the kind words Roger.

There's no denying that audience numbers are low at the moment, as I've no doubt live entertainment is the first thing to be sacrificed when money is a little tighter.

However we try and keep costs down with most of our shows being only a fiver (guest nights more obviously), and do take a serious amount of time in making sure each show gives the audience a good selection of acts all at a good level of performance.

Like I say, if you're from the area - please come and check us out sometime.

Cheers

...and if, like me, you missed this one, she's appearing at Jagz, Ascot UK on Thursday 5th May 2012. I should be able to make that one.

D'OH ! Senior Moment Alert! That should be Thursday 3rd of May of course. (you think I could read a calendar after all these years...) Rob Cross is on as well. BTW, last night "Whiter shade of Pale" was playing in the background. Young musician waiting to go on when live session started said to me: "That was my grandfather's favourite song". Did it make me feel ancient....?
