Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Oh, Lonesome Me (Don Gibson) + parody From: Bert Date: 07 Oct 11 - 06:25 AM Here's one of mine Shopping Cart With apologies to Connie Francis. Tune "My heart has a mind of its own" At the local grocery store, I found a shopping cart But one of its wheels just wouldn't start although the other three, they all turn left you see Guess my cart has a mind of its own. I wanted aisle thirteen to buy some baking goods but these wheels, they don't turn the way they should and so I ended up, in personal feminine stuff Guess my cart has a mind of its own. The butcher fancies me, each tim I pass him by he looks me up and down and winks his eye. I tell this cart of mine to find the checkout line but it wants to go around just one more time. I've been around this store eleven times or more Guess my cart has a mind of its own. Guess my cart has a mind of its own. |

Subject: Lyr Add: OH, LONESOME ME (Homer and Jethro) From: Jim Dixon Date: 06 Oct 11 - 03:35 PM And now, the parody: OH, LONESOME ME As sung by Homer & Jethro 1. I bought my wife a new sack dress the other day, And now I wish she'd throw the dad-burn thing away. I know she's in there, but where can she be? Oh, lonesome me! 2. She says it's the latest style from gay Paree. Like a pig within a poke, it seems to be. Maybe she means Paris, Tennessee. Oh, lonesome me! BRIDGE: When she wears a sheath, I know she's underneath. Lookin' at her fills my heart with joy. And in her bathin' suit, Brother she's a beaut. She makes Jayne Mansfield look like a boy. 3. Maybe it's a 'tater sack from Pappy's store, But buttons on a sack I've never seen before. The old gray mare ain't what she used to be. Whoa, lonesome me! 4. She was cuter than a polky-dotted pup, But now she wears a belt to hold her girdle up. I've called her ever'thing from A to Z. Oh, lonesome me! Oh, lonesome me! |
Subject: Lyr Add: OH, LONESOME ME (Don Gibson) From: Jim Dixon Date: 06 Oct 11 - 03:31 PM OH, LONESOME ME Written by Don Gibson As sung by Don Gibson, 1958 1. Ev'rybody's goin' out an' havin' fun. I'm just a fool for stayin' home an' havin' none. I can't get over how she set me free. Oh, lonesome me! 2. A bad mistake I'm makin' by just hangin' 'round. I know that I should have some fun an' paint the town. A lovesick fool that's blind an' just can't see, Oh, lonesome me! BRIDGE: I'll bet she's not like me, She's out and fancy-free, Flirtin' with the boys with all her charms, But I still love her so, And, brother, don't you know, I'd welcome her right back here in my arms. 3. Well, there must be some way I can lose these lonesome blues, Forget about the past and find somebody new. I've thought of ev'rything from A to Z. Oh, lonesome me! REPEAT BRIDGE AND VERSE 3. Oh, lonesome me! |
