Hi Greg my pal.
Me and the now adult elder daughter have just been looking at your new venture hope all goes well. Good to see the Diamond Lady is looking very fine. Liked your session website too. Hope you let us know when you are back on the Humber, give us more than a days notice and we'll put a session on in your honour, cakes included

Hey Allison, I'm not sure the authorities would let me back in after the spectacle I made of myself, busking in Tomkins Square Park with Lorcan a few years back! Happy days.

Greg

Acorn, thanks for those kind words, and apologies for the delay in replying. We are going to have a trade stand at accordion festivals and also some folk festivals. I was talking to my old mate Bill Sables about Whitby yesterday, and although it's a diary date disaster in 2012 as it runs concurrently with Mersea Week (the week-long regatta where my attendance as chairman is mandatory), we are hoping to have a stand there. We're also hoping to be at Accordions at Witney in February 2012. Looking into Sidmouth and Broadstairs as well, but what with the various accordion festivals and trying to campaign the good ship Black Diamond round the country in her golden jubilee year, it is going to be very, very busy!.

Giok, you should 'unfriend' the singer songwriter, short order!

A well known singer songwriter of my aquaintance, descibed the piano accordion as 'The devils instrument'
Whereas the button box: ah; there's a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Prices look very reasonable - will you be doing any stalls at folk festivals?

Terry, thank you. It's good to be back. Have missed the community here.

Garg, thank you, high praise. Can't help you with Norwolk, think it's in your country, on the south bank of Lake Erie, between Toledo and Cleveland. Here's the map

Lozza, you have a point there about the melodeons (on the treble end, at least), and speed isn't an issue to the top flight players. I miss the pissant swamp, truth be told, but now Ellie's away to uni, I'm not up there regularly. I promise to hit a first Monday session soon, though. There's nothing like a song ruined by Waggler!

Greg

What? a button accordion/melodion can only play in a couple of keys? Lies and calumny, Skippy. Amend your website immediately! A DG or similar box, yes of course, but the Irish B C or C C# ones, since they play a full chromatic scale, can play anything your high-faluting piano accordions can - perhaps not quite as quickly. Nevertheless, of course the very best with the venture, let us hope Black Diamond boxes are soon the norm in sessions and bands throughout the land.
We miss you up here in the pissant swamp, do come and see us soon, let's ruin a few toons and songs together.
Lawrie

VERY NICE Webpage - and excellent transition for historical.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

So what country is this Norwolk in? Do you have a map - If you please I would rather squeeze.

Now then, Giok, it may warm your heart to know that your old Dell Quay dory is now the good ship Diamond Cutter, tender to BD.

Not that that's the best boat name in the harbour, that goes to the tender for the beautiful West Solent Restricted Class Black Adder, which unsurpirisingly is named 'Baldrick'.

Aha, fellow Greg, you have exposed our next move! I have melodeonistas scouring the Orient sourcing the finest bellowed harmonicas in the land! Watch this space!

BD is a Yachting World Diamond, celebrates her 50th birthday next year (not many plywood 30 footers that old still about), and is without exception the most uncomfortable boat I've ever spent one night aboard, full crawling headroom in the fo'c's'le (which the pedant in me reckons is the only word in the English language that enjoys three apostrophes?) and even less in the aft stateroom. The Bursledon Blogger (Max, to his friends) did an article on BD in his blog

Lovely locale and instruments. Now if you can just make them work
properly and play two different notes per button!

Do you live aboard the vessel?

Hello, old friends.

Firstly, apologies. I have been a very bad Mudcatter these last years, dropped off the face of the virtual earth and haven't really been in touch with anyone except my enduring chums InOBU and BFDK (Bente). There were reasons, my business hit the rocks at the end of 2008 (my own fault, did a Leeson and piled half a million on Sterling against the Euro, only to see it go down the lavatory) and I ended up with debts that would make Greece blush, big personal stuff happened, and the upshot was that I was able to relocate to God's Land, the saltmarsh of my youth, and I now live on the most easterly inhabited island of the British Isles, Mersea Island in Essex

It hasn't been easy, but I have managed to start another business, and another session, so life is as sweet as a bitter personal and global recession could possibly be, and now is about the craziest time to start a new venture, but, Joeclones permitting, may I announce Black Diamond Accordions?

I don't want to sully these pages with commercial stuff, even if it is allowed, but I also wanted to let y'awl know what I'm up to these days. There's three sites involved, the ubiquitous Facebook page, the now-quaint blog and the still-under-construction website

Is one allowed to be an accordion millionaire?

All the best
Greg
