Subject: RE: A little more Amos, Amos, Amos From: Amos Date: 12 Oct 11 - 04:03 PM Geeze, Dan, I didn't even realize that was in the wild!! Thanks. It's not a cowboy song, though. It's an Al Grierson children's song. You could call it "Old Enough to Make it On Your Own" or "World Goes 'Round in Circles", I guess. I don't know what it was originally titled--I don't think Al ever recorded it. I got the song on a cassette, years back, from our own Jen Ellen, being played by a friend of hers who had Al's permission to record it, whose name I have forgot. Thanks for the kind comments. ALways give me a lift! A |
Subject: RE: A little more Amos, Amos, Amos From: GUEST,999 Date: 12 Oct 11 - 04:14 PM What a pretty song. Amos, you are in great voice. Did you also overdub the back-up guitar? |
Subject: RE: A little more Amos, Amos, Amos From: olddude Date: 12 Oct 11 - 04:23 PM don't know why I said cowboy song. I played it about 100 times for my grandson last week. The little guy was kicking his feet and waving his arms. You got a real fan with my year and a half grandson. Along with his grandpa |
Subject: RE: A little more Amos, Amos, Amos From: Amos Date: 12 Oct 11 - 05:36 PM Appears from notes dug up by my heart's compadre Peace that it is called "Melanie and Sherry Lynn". Yes, it was one of my first experiments in dubbing a second guitar over a recording, and you can tell I hadn't mastered the musical art of timing very well!! :D A |

Subject: RE: A little more Amos, Amos, Amos From: Lonesome EJ Date: 13 Oct 11 - 12:00 AM Ah, my old pal Mr Jessup, the one and original Troubador, the Human Folk Jukebox, in my mind I see him strolling the Getaway grounds with his flop-brimmed khaki hat, his clothes which look like he slept in 'em, and his Martin strapped 'cross his shoulder. Listening to these songs I am transported to my sweet spot, which is in a chair at the Peace Shack with my chin on my guitar and Amos across from me, and it's 2:18 am and his eyes are red-rimmed and glittering, and a golden bourbon sirocco drifts among the assembled revelers. And I send a silent salute to the muse of sweet serendipity, as should we all, that we have an Amos in our lives. Love ya, buddy |
