I met some people in a restaurant tonight who were still enthusing about the Festival.

Excellent catering too - I enjoyed my chicken curry accompanied by a pint of Mary Jane from Ilkley Brewery.

The only problem I had was in travelling. The train across the Pennines was replaced by a bus. I was surprised when we passed the hall where we rehearse in Burnley. I was even more surprised when we passed it again five minutes later!

Thanks Henry - we have had some really positive feedback which, along with watching people have a great time, makes all the work worthwhile.

Someone said it was like a swan - seemingly serene on the surface but with mad paddling underneath - which was about right!

A very entertaining and thought provoking concert today (Sunday) featuring a very energetic
Jon Fromer, from the US west coast, and from Peggy Seeger, who also demonstrated her ability to put into rhyme and song, the mood of the masses with her more recent compositions. My earlier reservations were quickly disspelled!

I'll be there in my native city once again with my socialist choir from Nottingham. Looking forward to the Peggy Seeger concert.

Hi folks

Just thought people might be interested in this, the only purely political music festival in Britain!

This year the line-up includes John Tams & Barry Coope, Roy Bailey, Peggy Seeger, Amsterdam (Pele's Ian Prowse's new band, John Peel approved!), The Hall Brothers & Michelle Plum, Ewan McLennan, Seize The Day, Robb Johnson, Justin Sullivan, massed choirs and an evening of radical world jazz in Bradford Cathedral.

Most of the festival takes place at Kala Sangam, St Peter's House in the centre of Bradford. There are also stalls, films, talks, a real ale bar as well as loads of great music. Aspiring political songwriters can upload their songs to the website and may get asked to perform during the Robb Johnson concert!

The festival runs from the 25 to 27th November.

More information and tickets available from http://www.raiseyourbanners.org/

Thanks!

Nick
