Subject: RE: Chris Pearson - Where are you now? From: GUEST,Chris Pearson Date: 19 Oct 11 - 09:48 AM Dear John, An old friend, Rick West - himself a performer at the Farningham Club - emailed this onto me. What a lovely morale-booster! I'm delighted you enjoy and perform "They Asked For Vincent". It was based on an actual evening in a wine bar in Covent Garden that I used to play in way back in the early 80s. I'm so glad you are keeping the song alive. I rarely do gigs now as I found myself a little niche in children's music (under the alias of Billy Banjo) which takes up most of my time. I write and perform children's songs which are occasionally used on BBC Schools programmes. It's great fun and keeps me young! I have also had one of my songs recorded and performed on BBC1 by Val Doonican, so I have not lived in vain! During my folk career I made five albums, the more recent of which are available on CD. Drop me an email if you're interested. It would be nice to make contact with you. All the best, Chris billybanjo@btinternet.com |
Subject: Chris Pearson - Where are you now? From: GUEST,John Evans Date: 18 Oct 11 - 06:52 AM I've recently revived in my own repertoire a great song by Chris Pearson; "They Asked for Vincent" and lots of friends have enjoyed it and asked where it came from. I learned it first in the late '70s when we saw Chris at the Coachhouse in Farningham in Kent. I've still got two or three tapes of his. It occurs to me to ask if anyone has news of Chris; or maybe you might read this yourself and reply. Anyway thanks for this and lots of other songs "I've loved so well". |
