Subject: RE: Important date to remember again From: The Doctor Date: 21 Oct 11 - 04:57 AM Which is why a lot of us will be meeting tonight at Settle Social Club, the home of Settle Folk Club, for a weekend in celebration of Trafalgar Day and Lord Nelson. We start this evening with the Admiral's dinner (too late if you wanted to book a meal, but you could still turn up with your own food), then tomorrow a day of walking, workshops and an evening concert, and on Sunday, after breakfast and another sing, we shall finish. |

Subject: RE: Important date to remember again From: Bert Date: 21 Oct 11 - 11:32 AM Many years ago Punch ran some cartoons for Trafalgar Day. One by Bill Tidy showed two French snipers up in the crows nest, One is saying to the other "See that guy with all the scrambled egg? Here's two sous you can't get him in the OTHER EYE!!!" |
Subject: RE: Important date to remember again - Trafalgar Day From: bubblyrat Date: 22 Oct 11 - 06:05 AM And we mustn't forget the other cartoon that I mentioned before on this subject ; Hardy is bending over a prostrate Nelson, who looks at him and says " Nothing too ostentatious , Hardy ! About a hundred and fifty feet, and get old Whatsisname to knock up a few lions around the base !" Anyway , I'm glad that this thread has reminded me of the occasion ; I'm more of a Taranto Night person really , but I shall still toast " The Immortal Memory" with a glass of something this evening ( sitting down , of course !). |
Subject: RE: Important date to remember again - Trafalgar Day From: Will Fly Date: 22 Oct 11 - 06:27 AM I got back from the evening gig last night and raised a glass of Wood's Navy before hitting the sack. |
