Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: Bob Landry Date: 24 Oct 11 - 09:39 PM Well done Guest,Seonaid! Mr. Shatner was in Edmonton last night, about a 25 minute drive from here. He held a contest where a few lucky winners got some face-to-face time with him. I now wish that: (1) I had entered, (2) I had won, and (3) I had the benefit of reading your comment ahead of time. Then I could have asked him your question directly! |
Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: GUEST,999 Date: 24 Oct 11 - 07:38 PM Seonaid, gnu and I would like to offer you honourary Canadian citizenship. It's not all that often people recognize the genius of William Shatner or so wittily respond to the great man of Canadian music's musicality, even though he lives in the USA. Bien dit. Say the word, and your name will appear in the William Shatner Living Museum of Artful Presentations and Stuff. You shall have Mudcat Fan Club for Shatner number three, after Little Hawk and gnu. |

Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: Desert Dancer Date: 24 Oct 11 - 06:33 PM Old news, for those who dwell below the line: BBS: William Shatners new CD. ~ Becky in Tucson (I'll admit that I started a redundant thread myself last week, a month late. It was helpfully dumped into the previous one.) |
Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: gnu Date: 24 Oct 11 - 05:29 PM Timeless? Well, some seem to go on forever. >;-) |
Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: GUEST,999 Date: 24 Oct 11 - 04:49 PM I understand he's going to have his timeless songs listed in the Canadian Roud Index during the coming year. |
Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: gnu Date: 24 Oct 11 - 04:35 PM Indeed, as Canucks, we are proud to claim Bill as a native son. However, I must point out that there has been a BS thread about the new work of art for quite some time which may lend credence to the postulate I propose... that this gem is not necessarily folk. |
Subject: RE: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: GUEST,999 Date: 24 Oct 11 - 04:30 PM Shatner was born in Canada. Another feather in our collective caps. |

Subject: Shatner - Seeking Major Tom (New Album!) From: robomatic Date: 24 Oct 11 - 10:42 AM I so rarely post in the music section I'm going to give this one a try: The Kirk Man, legendary for his prowess as the 'first' (in performance time if not in space-time) Captain of the Roddenberry Opi, has released a new CD album (remember CDs?). In it he posits what would have been the continuation of the Major Tom saga originally ensonged by Bowie in 1969. Shatner is still the Eveready Bunny of television, starring in 'Bleep My Dad Says' and with at least one good albume to his credit, "Has-Been". I haven't listened to this one other than the samples I heard played over the radio. He seems to be still talking his way through such rock icons as: Rocket Man Space Cowboy Spirit in the Sky Lost in the Stars (!!!) and my personal favorite: Twilight Zone Once again music may never be the same And remember the mantra for those who bleep on the Shat Man: honi soit qui mal y pense |
