Yes, Paul, except you lay the first finger across the fretboard to play the second string at the second fret (Db) as well. This is a common diminished "passing chord", but whether it's the Broonzy one,
not able to say for sure.

I've tried this, but it doesn't sound right, but it could be that I'm not understanding it exactly.

Is this how you suggesting to form the G dim?

Forgot to say that after sliding up you need to either omit str 2 or flatten the note D to Db with finger 1, as Good Soldier says.

A B7 chord slid up two frets, muting the Low E and F-note on the A-string.

Per Pauls doing, I encourage newcomers (and oldcomers) to visit the link he posted to see for yourself how Bill Broonzy formed it.

Then if you have a comment, let it fly. I'm still open to suggestions (mostly on how Bill forms the chord (i.e. playing it rightly), then how to name the chord in question).

hey guys, I found footage of Broonzy on a front porch, sliding to the same chord.

video starts at the B7, or V chord. pay attention to the next chord.

Without checking, I think it's a C7 formed by sliding the B7 one fret up the neck. that makes it c major 7 a jazz chord not to be confused with c 7 which is cegb flat ,cmajor 7 is ceg b natural

guest johnnie the notes you describe are g e bflat b, g diminshed is g bflat and d flat.
there is a chord shape often used in blues, which is the b7 shape up one fret, this is c major seventh c e g b, is this the chord u mean, it is often used between c#7 an b7, so third fret b 7 shape second fret b7 shape, first fret b7.

No idea. The f note on the d-string just sounds off in choices a and b.

Brad, I agree. To me, 'C' seems the closest. Is that a C7 chord still?

'When do (will) I get to be called a man' is otherwise a straight-forward blues progression in E. However, there's a chord Broonzy uses fairly often in his playing that comes after the B7 here.
