Played there last year, imho great venue, wonderful food, i dont remember the level of seat plushness (or lack there of) but it is quite normal for me not to make note of this. :O)

You'll be pleased to know then Boko that we are hosting a series worth of events next May when we will be hosting the first 'Green Note Folk Festival', mainly held at Green Note but involving other local venues.. more details soon.

Still wont have pork pies on the menu though :-)

Bonzo - your grasp of logic seems very tenuous.

No vegetarian restaurant that I know of has any meat dishes on its menu - that's why such restaurants are vegetarian. Got that? Good.

If a vegetarian restaurant in Croydon closed down, there may have been many reasons - and there being no call for such a restaurant in that particular area at that particular time may well have been one of them. To say it closed because it didn't serve meat is very silly.

As for a vegetarian kitchen being accused of discrimination because it doesn't serve "at least one meat dish" is also very silly. If the venue advertises itself as having a vegetarian menu, then any prospective punters will know that. The point is - and I speak as a meat and fish eater - that good vegetarian food can be as delicious and tasty as non-vegetarian; all depends on the quality of the ingredients and the ability of the chef. If you don't like such food then that's your problem.

Is it discriminatory in a Chinese restaurant if they don't serve "at least one Italian meal"? Of course not.

Anyway - back to the thread topic. Hurray for Zoox! Linda, their violin player, happens to be my violin teacher - and a wonderful musician and teacher she is. Don't miss them - wherever they are!

There was a veggie restaurant in Croydon which closed down - guess why?? - nobody went there because they refused to have any meat dishes on the menu, very stupid.

Well you should have at least one meat dish on your menu - failure is discrimination against meat eaters you see.

Boko, Im really not sure why you felt the need to repeat your points two days after your last post but for the sake of clarity the venues kitchen is closed on a Monday when we hold our folk events so your point about the food is irrelevant to the night in question (but oddly enough the venue seem to get a lot of customers who seem to enjoy their food so perhaps the problem isn't theirs). As it happens we also start our folk nights at around 8:15 and the venues other evenings start at 9:00pm, hardly an usual time for music to start really.

However whilst Im here Will Pound and Dan Walsh are also playing at the Green Note on Thursday 10th November, well worth making the journey to Camden and the Kitchen will also be open for meals but unfortunately pork pies will not be on the menu.

Sorry but I think the venue is appalling - most inappropriate for customers with severe back problems, and your food is hideous.

Your gigs also start too late.

It's absolutely relevant.

Funny isn't it that regular cafes are always expected to have a vegetarian dish!!!

As it happens the Kitchen is closed on our Folk Nights so the above (rather silly) comment isn't relevant (not many vegetarian cafes that have meat on the menu in my experience), and there is plenty of seating available apart from wooden stools.

"Camden's intimate Green Note"

The most uncomfortable venue I have ever been to with backless wooden stools, and they only sell veggie food - so you take your own pork pie for when you get hungry!!
