Subject: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: JedMarum Date: 28 Oct 11 - 01:50 PM I have a new project to release on Nov 1. It is called Rejoice! A Christmas Album and I've posted a preview sample here (at Banjo Hangout). The album has 10 tracks, all well known Christmas Carols, except for one original. I played most of the instruments, but was joined by friends, Kathleen Jackson on upright bass - and David Lovrien on whistles. The music has lotsa banjo (gut and steel strung, and banjola). I'll post the link to it's CDBaby listing next week when it's released, and you can hear samples of ALL the tracks ... but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm today with a preview! |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 28 Oct 11 - 03:12 PM It's very pleasant, Jed. Does it have "Banjoes we have heard on high?" |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: ranger1 Date: 28 Oct 11 - 03:36 PM Cool! The answer to what to get my Gramma for Christmas has been answered. A renewal to her Smithsonian subscription and a Jed Marum Christmas CD. What could be better? |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: JedMarum Date: 28 Oct 11 - 06:03 PM Yes "Banjoes we have heard on high?" is on the album. Ah, ranger1, what a fine and intelligent gift giver you are!! |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Oct 11 - 06:58 PM The great thing about this album is that Jed is going to be performing for the Friends of the Library at the University of Texas at Arlington on Dec. 2 in their holiday program. It's like he made this album for us! (I'll post more later - the meetings are free and open to all.) SRS |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: JedMarum Date: 02 Nov 11 - 10:23 AM OK the album has finally been released. It's been a real labor of love and I hope it will be well received. Please take a look and listen here and let me know what you think. Though the music is pretty traditional in its concept, the style, I think is pretty deep folkie. Everything is guitar, banjo and upright bass backed. Anyway - I love it, and I hope you'll give it a listen. Thanks |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: Stilly River Sage Date: 03 Nov 11 - 09:57 AM You'll have a full array of your hard-copy CDs, including this, to sell at the Friends meeting Dec. 2, I hope - I'm sure sales will be brisk! SRS |

Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: katlaughing Date: 09 Nov 11 - 02:35 PM Wonderful, Jed! I am off to listen at CDBaby, now. Since Banjos I Have Heard on High is one of my very favs., I'll bet I'll love the whole thing, too! Congrats! kat |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: JedMarum Date: 10 Nov 11 - 10:38 AM Thanks Kat! On the one hand, I hate "pushing" the album with posts and promos, but I do hope the album sells and do believe people will love it. It has been a considerable investment of time, effort and money. While it has been a labor of love - I do hope the album will be well received and valued by the listeners of the world, especially the folk listeners of the world - because that is where my music heart is! It has started to sell a bit, so I am hopeful. It will also be landing at about 100 carefully selected radio shows around the world this week ... fingers crossed for that too! |
Subject: RE: Rejoice! A Christmas Album From: JedMarum Date: 18 Nov 11 - 04:24 PM Rejoice! is currently at the number 2 Best Seller spot in CDBaby's Celtic Folk category. I know some of mu Mudcat friends helped put it there. Thank you! Here's a link to the category posting. |
