Subject: Obit: David Rea From: Mark Ross Date: 29 Oct 11 - 11:19 PM This really sucks! Another man done gone. A great picker who I first met 45 years ago. David played with everyone and did it better than anyone thought possible. http://oregonmusicnews.com/2011/10/28/david-rea-guitarist-singer-songwirter-dies-in-portland-at-65/ Mark Ross |

Subject: RE: Obit: David Rea - October 2011 From: Duke Date: 31 Oct 11 - 12:37 PM I'm surprised that more people have not acknowledged the person and the performer that David was. He was a special person and his passing is a great loss to us all. I listened to Shorty's Ghost today and remembered fondly the times we had. |
Subject: RE: Obit: David Rea - October 2011 From: vlmagee Date: 31 Oct 11 - 01:53 PM Please visit David's new web site at David Rea Music. I worked on the site with him, but when I called in early June to say it was ready for launch, I learned that he had been hospitalized. I just launched it on Saturday, after getting the green light from his significant other. If you have memories of him, and would like to contribute to a "Tributes" page, please let me know. Photos are appreciated too! A tribute concert is being planned in Portland, OR for early December. Sign-up at the web site if you'd like me to let you know details, or check back there in the coming weeks. |

Subject: RE: Obit: David Rea - October 2011 From: GUEST Date: 01 Nov 11 - 02:32 AM I remember meeting him in 1965 or 6 - I was an undergrad in Manchester and for some reason the planned studio audience for BBC tapings of 2 half-hour concerts of Ian & Sylvia could not get there. My "dorm", St. Anselm's Hall of Residence, was just down the road from the BBC Manchester studio and I was delighted to be invited. I chatted with David after the shows, an absolute gentleman. Felix Pappalardi was there as well. I met David again at a Mariposa festival in the early-mid 70s. Still the gracious gentleman, and I am sorry to hear of his passing. Go in peace, David, you had a good life. John |
