Post-Warburton Souling Play music session at the Saracen's Head, Warburton, near Lymm WA13 9TH. Music and singing, mainly English - but certainly not exclusively so.
Always a good do and very popular - get there by 9pm to ensure you catch the final performance of the Play....and you get a decent seat too!

Mikey, the format is fairly straightforward:
Arrive at the pub > Play arrives and does it's final performance of the year, then sing / play, drink lots of beer.

It's all rather good fun!

I wouldn't have thought so, according to their website Warburton's first night is always 1st November, unless it's a Sunday in which case it's the following night.

It's always a special day for us starting in Warburton Church in the afternoon and finishing in the Saracen's Head with the last performance and 'the session'. Recommended.

As stated in the other thread, Warburton Souling Play is not the Unthanks TV recorded one, BUT it is a rumbustious romp, totally traditional (revived by the Warburton Soulers over 30 years ago from written records of a much earlier play) and YOU can see it, live and exciting rather than on a tepid TV show, on Saturday as listed above.....!!

Ah, I think I remember this from a few years ago. Didn't realise the session after the play was an annual thing, but thoroughly enjoyed it then. Perhaps, I'll come back to Warburton for that rather than seeing it on one of the earlier tours this year.

The Unthanks were filming the Antrobus players, Alan. Matthew was there and thinks he may even be in the film!

Yes, there's a huge car park.

Others have stayed overnight in campervans / motorhomes previously so I don't see a problem. It would be polite to ask Phil and Coard at the pub.
