And don't miss the authentic Boston Tea Party in London. Nothing like being authentic.

I hate to be pedantic, but in what way is a flaming Christmas pudding an authentic element of Guy Fawkes Night? And no one in their right mind would bring a salad to a bonfire party in the UK!

They are Merkins, Anne, and for them "authentic" is just a posh word for "old". They are such a young nation that they won't recognise history if it bit them in the arse. Just look at their "Renaissance" fairs where authentic costumes are anything from Fred Flintstone to elves.

Oh, I've been to Renaissance Fairs ... but they don't label themselves "authentic"! I've also been to a "Celtic Fayre" in California and have many a merry tale to tell as a result ... but again, there wasn't any claim to authenticity.

St Peter's School near us has a bonfire every year, but never burns Guy Fawkes, because it is bad form to burn Old Boys, even only in effigy!

Round our way, we do it like this -

and in this one, Mudcatter Valmai Goodyear is visible at about 1.30 if you know how to spot her -

Authentic? Dunno.

Nope, definitely agree with Anne on that one. Baked potatoes maybe, toffee apples, but flaming Christmas pudding??? As authentic as the suggested Boston Tea Party in London!

Hey    give ol' Conrad a break! After all, this is being held at the Center for Fawkesian Pursuits where they actually pour the pudd into the Bonfire!   Later they throw in spuds and two garden gnomes then eat the ashes for breakfast...............
