They are everywhere. He is a popular Saint.

Apparently the "wasters" are the "Occupy" protesters. For a folk forum, we see a lot on right wing, reactionary statements. Perhaps some of our members would appreciate artists like Toby Keith and Hank Williams Jr.

well Bozo I', sure you'll be pleased to hear that Graeme Knowles, the dean of St Paul's, has stood down with immediate effect, saying his position has become 'untenable'

if you can read, here are further details (not the Daily Mail I'm afraid)

But the Dean is a religious man who follows teachings of justice and honour. He is therefore by definition a dangerous leftie wastrel and beneath the contempt of bonzo.

The city was thinking of demolishing St Pauls Cathedral, London, beside the River Thames, in South East England, Northern Europe and building another stadium for The Olympic Games, it's too late now, but the matter is still under consideration.

By the way Toronto, Ontario, Canada is considered to be the centre of the world (at least by Torontonians anyway)

The NY Times Store offers "Authentic Yankee Stadium freeze-dried grass sod" in a glass case for $99.95, and bricks for $179 and up. An authentic seat back is $275.00.

i don't love toronto but i have to say it gets way too much slagging.it's a big city with all that brings both good and bad but i found in general people there were much more polite than out west. and i never saw any sign people thought toronto was the centre of the universe. that's a western insecurity. a lot of peple have angst there about not being nearly as advanced culturally as new york.

now it's a big city and it can be cut throat at times. but really guys have anyonf you who trot out that crap about torontonians thinking they are the centre of the universe have you ever actually lived there?

as i say people are polite, very genreous to musicians and very tolerant of diversity. a bit cold but the cultural oportunities are vast.

if you are on the wrong side of the ethnic and class divide vancouver calgary and regina are violent and nasty places.

Well, it does not look like the plan to demolish St. Paul's is being taken very seriously. The demolition plan comes from some group that wants to protest something, and they figure that demolishing St. Paul's will make their point clear.

All of us Mary Poppins fans would be so upset if St. Paul's were to be torn down. It's where I fell in love with Julie Andrews. I wonder if the birdseed still costs tuppence a bag...

The eviction of the demonstrators will be the pinnacle of this brave and poular demonstration - what more effective way could there be of showing just how deeply the invidious influence of money has infiltrated our society? It shows that the Church of England is still 'the Tory party at prayer' and that the moneylenders are not just welcome in the temple but are, in fact, controlling it. So. well done demonstrators - today St Paul's, tomorrow Westminster Abbey?

The Dean of St. Paul's has resigned, for he does not want them gone. You see, he believes that Jesus would be out there with them, carrying their beliefs for a better world....

Since scum is what rises to the top, I suspect it is better applied to others.

Steve Bell had a very good parody of "Feed the Birds" on his cartoon on Saturday, which I will seek out.

Found instantly...

"All around the Cathedral the pigs and the fat cats look forward to clear each tent,
And though you can't see them you know they are laughing at a rise pushing 50 per ce-e-e-e-ent.
Feed the Rich, 2 million a bag etc etc..."

Which also counters my own perception that the right tend to use dismissive insults of those they don't like more than the left.

Joe, I was talking to the lady in our local pet shop the other day about the cost of bird food...She told me that the peanuts, in particular, have almost doubled in price this past year, due to The Corporate Bastards holding back the stock, which they buy en masse, then stash away in their warehouses for a few months, years, until they can get the price they want...

I reckon The Bird Lady of St. Paul's would have a tough job selling those bags today. ;0)

There has been a spate of resignations from the St Pauls clergy who support the protesters rights to be there.

It is only the banks that don't want them there.

I still can't see why the Dean and Registrar of St Pauls have resigned. It's possible to voice a bit of opposition to your boss (the Bishop & Chapter in this case) without resigning. They could have joined the protesters in camping out for a day or two which would have made their point just as effectively. However, I doubt either of them will be down the job centre on Monday swelling the ranks of the 2m unemployed. No doubt the good old Church of England will relocate them to other ministries. The pay may not be great but you get a free house plus some fancy workwear - oh and a new job when you resign the old one.

The Church elders who aren't backing the protesters want to watch their backs.
During the Peasants Revolt of the 1300s, the Archbishop of Canterbury was one of the first to get the chop ( i.e. his head chopped off!)

The clergy at St Pauls probably wouldn't be allowed to join in as they can't be seen to have political allegiences.

However they would be free to resign positions of status any time they chose.

The resignation is the closest thing they can do to expressing allegience with the protesters and I think it is both a very powerful statement and a sign of great sincerity and courage ... I admire them a lot!

But who Pretender is, or who is King,

Subject: RE: BS: Wasters at St Paul's to be kicked out
From: Mayet

The Right Rev Graeme Knowles. has become the third cleric to leave his post as a result of the Occupy London protest, after the canon chancellor of St Paul's, Giles Fraser, and the part-time chaplain Fraser Dyer

The land that the tents are camped on is owned by The City of London Corporation who are expected to serve legal papers on the protesters today after a warning to remove their tents

So who are 'The City of London Corporation' exactly?

The City has a unique electoral system. Most of its voters are representatives of businesses and other bodies that occupy premises in the City. Its ancient wards have very unequal numbers of voters. In elections, both the businesses based in the City and the residents (who constitute about 3.5%) of the City vote making it analogous to the historical 'rotten boroughs'

The Corporation has been described as existing 'outside many of the laws and democratic controls which govern the rest of the United Kingdom' Several governments have tried to democratise the City of London but all, threatened by its financial might, have failed.
More information about this
'medieval unaccountable' organization

You would be correct in assuming I support a campaign against the rewarding of risky (and bad) investments etc by the financial institutions and ordinary people reaping the result

But I don't feel that any cause is assisted by exaggeration or inaccuracy, it may even cause harm.

In the interest of which may I point out that commodity trading, while a form of investment, is directly affected by the current relationship between supply and demand for a given commodity. Any factor that limits the supply may cause the value of the remaining quantities of the commodity to gain in value very quickly. (and vice versa of course.)
True, there was a rise in peanut commodity trading in May and June this year of just under 10% - as reported elsewhere
"Scorching heat, little rain and the draw of more lucrative crops could produce one of the smallest peanut harvests in recent memory." thus pushing the price up."
As also confirmed by Wesley S
Be careful storing peanuts too as even unshelled, they will only keep from four to six months in refrigeration.

Also - not quite Disney

It is unlikely to find vendors selling small packets of bird seed these days as the number of feral pigeons in Britain's towns and cities has doubled over the past few years despite attempts to encourage people to stop feeding them as it is felt they could constitute a health hazard Some counties have introduced culling

However, unless you wish to employ your own method of culling birds around St Pauls or anywhere else, please take the advice of the RSPB for spring and summer feeding and
'avoid using peanuts, fat and bread at this time, since these can be harmful if adult birds feed them to their nestlings. If you feel you MUST put out peanuts, only do so in suitable mesh feeders that will not allow sizeable pieces of peanuts to be removed and provide a choking risk'.

Facts are really just so boring, and should never get in the way of a 'story'. LOL

Boiled and canned peanuts will keep for years.   The key thing here is that they are boiled properly in brine. It doesn't matter if they're canned properly because they already taste like shit when they're freshly boiled!
