CLARE PROGRAMME 2011 This Year's Theme: TRAVELLERS AND FELLOW TRAVELLERS FRIDAY 8.00pm Opening Launch by Michael Collins, renowned actor and regular visitor to An Goilin singer's club in Dublin. (Food Sponsored by Bellbridge Hotel.) 8.45pm Lecture: Collecting from Travellers in London. Jim Carroll and Pat Mackenzie 1O.OOpm Informal Singing Session with Jerry O'Reilly. SATURDAY 11.00am Singing Workshop facilitated by Ellen and Kevin Mitchell. 2.00pm Informal Singing Session Informal Singing Session with singers in Irish and English. Annette Munnelly, MC 4.00pm Seminar A Shared Heritage - Traveller and Settled? Contributions by Ellen Mitchell, Sean Tyrrell, Tom McCarthy, Michael Collins, Antoine Ó Farachain, Chaired by Anne Clune. 8.00pm Grand Concert of Traditional Singing Presented by Sean Malone. The Sean Tyrrell Trio, Mickey & Niamh Dunne, Tim Dennehy, Kevin &. Ellen Mitchell, Antoine Ó Faracháin, Martin Collins, Kitty Cassidy. 10.30pm Informal Singing Session with Máire Garvey. FAREWELL SUNDAY 1.00 p.m. Marrinan's Pub Farewell Singing Session hosted by Michael Gray. Guests Kevin and Ellen Mitchell: Kevin and Ellen are two well known singers, Kevin from Derry and married to Ellen from Glasgow. Both have a keen interest in traditional singing all their lives. Sean Tyrrell: Sean is known far and wide as a singer, actor and musician. He was a guest of the Féile in Ennistymon many years ago, and is very welcome on his return. Martin Collins: A young singer from Dublin, Martin is a nephew if Michael Collins and grandson of the renowned Johnny Collins who attended the Góilín singers club in the years before his death He carries a wealth of traveller culture and songs. Antoine Ó Faracháin: A singer in Irish and English all his life, Antoine has taken a keen interest in singers and songs from every tradition and is welcome back after many years. Mickey & Niamh Dunne: A well known father and daughter, Mickey is a fine piper in the hallowed traveller tradition and singer and Niamh is an excellent singer in her own right, Tim Dennehy: Tim is a native of Cahirciveen in Kerry, living in Miltown Malbay for many years. Well known as a singer and song writer in Irish and English, Tim has several CDs to his name and has appeared all over these islands as well as the USA. Mrs. Kitty Cassidy: A lady of great reputation and accomplishment, Mrs. Cassidy visits our Féile for the first time, but we hope, not the last. She is most welcome. The Festival ran in Ennistymon for 13 years from 1990 to 2002. It was run for a further two years in the Bellbridge hotel under the stewardship of Tom Munnelly. It is now being run in the Bellbridge Hotel to foster traditional singing in Tom's memory. TICKETS LECTURE €5. WORKSHOP €5. SEMINAR €5. CONCERT €20 WEEKEND TICKET €30 The Bellbridge House Hotel are giving a special rate for the weekend to those attending of €119 for 2 nights Bed and Breakfast and 1 Evening Meal on Saturday. |
