Subject: Bruce Molsky at The Old Laundry Theatre From: GUEST,Sedbergh Folkfest Date: 02 Nov 11 - 11:26 AM Bruce Molsky plays The Old Laundry Theatre (Bowness, Cumbria, UK) tomorrow evening. Alone or with fellow musicians; guitar, fiddle, or banjo in hand , Bronx born Bruce Molsky has been exploring traditional music from an astonishingly broad range of cultures over the past two decades and continually proves that traditional music knows no geographical or cultural boundaries. Molsky's influences range from the Appalachian soul of Tommy Jarrell to Delta blues and from the haunting modal strains of Irish music to the rhythmically nimble music of Eastern Europe Bruce tours both as a solo artist and with the Grammy-nominated band Fiddlers 4 , with Andy Irvine's Mozaik, and in numerous other collaborative constellations including Mary Ann Kennedy, founder of the 'Gaelic supergroup', Cliar and Alasdair Fraser and Martin Hayes, in a fiddling extravaganza known as Highland, Heath & Holler. |
