Next occasion will combine Shrove Tuesday with the eve of St Valentine (13 Feb 2018) I suppose that means that there's a likelihood of love-songs (unless you know some songs about pancakes) Entry £3 on the door. |

Subject: RE: 2nd Tuesday Folk Club Cardiff (Wales) From: Mick Tems Date: 08 Mar 15 - 04:31 PM Aidan always emails me the First Tuesday diary, which I publish without fail on the Listings website (which is another part of FolkWales Online Magazine.) By the way, Aidan is a harmonica tutor, a whizz on the Cajun diatonic accordion and one of the Whiskey River Cajun band or the Whiskey River Boys (when it's Aidan and Martin Blake playing.) Martin, incidentally, used to head a well-loved Hereford-based trio called Blake's Three, consisting of fiddler Rob Strawson and jazz clarinettist Mick Freeman. It's really good to see First Tuesday flourishing - keep music live! |

It's only a song of one man and the sea, But the tale was related on daytime TV. Tim went down to Tenby to look for a house. A lovely town for himself and his spouse. He had his own boat, but nowhere to park it 'Til the old lifeboat station came onto the market. Chorus Sing tooralie ooralie ooralie Ay We'll sing you a song if you come down our way. It's only a song of one man and the sea, But the tale was related on daytime TV. This lovely old building he wanted to buy A place for his boat, and quite kind on the eye After One Hundred years with the R.N.L.I It needed a bit more than just D.I.Y. Chorus Materials could not be brought in overland. And one crane deliv'ry got stuck in the sand. When building a dwelling with wood or with bricks, See Matt chapter 7 and verse 26! * Chorus Now some of the things that Tim wanted to do, He couldn't because the site's listed (Grade II) But it now looks perfect, both colour and line It's fair now to say that it's a 'Grand Design'. Chorus Tim's home now is finished; his dream's become real, With a cost that's between 'a lot' and 'a great deal' The sea-view keeps changing, it never gets boring. So Tim & his wife have now found a great mooring. Chorus * The parable of the man who built his house on sand. Nigel Parsons Nov 2011 |

Subject: 2nd Tuesday Folk Club Cardiff (Wales) From: Nigel Parsons Date: 05 Nov 11 - 02:38 PM Copied from an e-mail! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ever since the BBC Folk club ceased to function, earlier this year, many of us have missed our second Tuesday outings. Now Whitchurch Rugby Club have agreed to make their Concert Room available, for a trial period, to the SECOND TUESDAY FOLK CLUB and we will attempt to fill the BBC void. This Concert Room is much larger than the BBC venue so a good turnout is vital to ensure the continuation of the venture. Our first Folk night will start at 8.30 pm on Tuesday 8th November. There will NOT be any annual membership fee but it will be necessary to charge everybody a £2 admission fee. We cannot get our hands on BBC wine so the raffle prize will, unfortunately, have to be a bottle of JAMESON triple distilled Whiskey. Again we would ask you to buy far more tickets than you can afford! The success of this new Club will be totally dependent upon our support. If we want to re-establish connetion with our once-a-month friends and keep that contact going, we will have to do our best to ensure the Folk Nights are well supported. We look forward to seeing you there, Roy Zeal, Ian Thomas, Geri Thomas, Gib Teasdale, Phil Steele, Graham Rogers, Veronica Partridge, Bob Partridge, Terry Parsons, Nigel Parsons, Anne Parsons, William O'Donovan, Tim O'Donovan, Brian McHugh, Stephen Lucey, Danny Gale, Lawrence Eddy, Roger Duffy, Kevin Davies, Bill Clarke, ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Anyone wanting further info, or map, PM me & I'll forward the original email. Cheers Nigel |
