Subject: song the lower east side From: Tigger the Tiger Date: 08 Nov 11 - 07:56 AM Yes, I am relieved I can finally learn this. The other about the Lower East Side is still a mystery. It may have been Ochs I saw do this. |

Subject: 196- New York song the lower east side From: Tigger the Tiger Date: 08 Nov 11 - 05:28 AM There was a performer in one of the basket houses who was locally known in New York. He did a couple songs I remember:one had a chorus that went "for the city is a jungle when the law is out of sight, and death lurks in el barrio with the orphans of the night, for now the streets are empty, now the streets are dark,so keep an eye on shadows and never pass the park" another that went "so put up your collar and walk real wide, this is the lower east side".Anyone know these or who it was? |
